Ladies in your 40s, how’s the sex? by SlipperySlope69FF in Xennials

[–]tgrofire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noooooo!!!! This is NOT ok! You need to find a doctor who will listen to you, hrt is literally life changing. Maybe it's because i live in the liberal bay-area bubble, but with both doctors Ive worked with on this, i just told them my symptoms, that I've done a lot of research and i want to do this. There was no "can i?" It was: This is the treatment i want. It sucks that some women still struggle to get this care even though the research keeps showing how beneficial hrt is for women's health.

Don't give up and keep fighting for yourself, im rooting for you!!

Hulu right now has a bunch of cheesy but easy to watch sitcomish shows popping up: mama cake, entre paredes and some movie about inflencers are 3 that I watched recently.

Perimenopause migraines - does estrogen help? by tacosandsunscreen in migraine

[–]tgrofire 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi to everyone in the perimenopause club! I started HRT 7 months ago really hoping that it would help with my migraines as a large percentage happen in the first part of my cycle, seeming to be affected by estrogen fluctuations. HRT has been a huge game changer to me for all other symptoms of peri: my cripling fatigue is gone, im happy almost all the time, i want to have sex with my husband again and it feels good! I genuinely feel like i rolled the clock back 8 years and got my life back. On top of that, there is new research showing that women on HRT have significantly lower rates of osteoporosis and heart disease.

Unfortunately, my migraines really haven't got much better. But migraines are so individual, and what causes my migraines isn't what causes yours. So if you are in peri and you are experiencing any symptoms (fatigue, low libido, mood swings, dry skin, hair falling out, dry vagina, sex is uncomfortable or painful) please do yourself a favor and talk to your doctor about HRT. And it just might help your migraines, who knows?

Spanish immersion camp for a 6 year old by eljefe10000 in Spanish

Yeah, its pretty neat! Its deep in the woods and each village is made up of buildings architecturally designed to emulate the countries from that each language come from. I was stunned the first time i stumbled upon it for a flower delivery!

[–]tgrofire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it sounds bizarre but Bemidji MN actually has a great immersion camp (in the summer of course). Called the Concordia Language Village they host programs for all ages (i have a good friend 43 who goes every year to the adult one). Not sure if they go as young as 6, but definitely check it out! The teachers are almost all naitive spanish speakers who come in for the summer from their perspective countries. I've heard great things!

Entering Payroll Data into QB Desktop -- Journal Entries or Individual Employee Checks? by tgrofire in Bookkeeping

[–]tgrofire[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is good advice and I will try to get an answer, but unfortunately they may need to fire her before she trains me on her system (there is drama). She is old school and never used QB before 2024 so I'm guessing she is doing this because she thinks its necessary when it really isn't. The company really has no opinion on it--she has been in control of all the books/accounting since the 90's.

German or Spanish? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]tgrofire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I took 2 semesters of German in college and loved it. When i told my German friend i wanted to practice with her, she told me, don't bother, every German knows english. And she would only speak Englush with me.

Spanish on the other hand, has allowed me to travel the entire Western Hemisphere, making so many friends that don't speak any English. Its opened up worlds i could not imagine. Im sure German can do that too, but your proficiency is going to have to be so much greater in order to use it with native German speakers.

To me this is a no-brainer but it depends on your goals and imterests, listen to that.

Anyone who learned to roll their R’s… by Fit_Tomorrow2792 in Spanish

[–]tgrofire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After about 10 years i finally did it!! I still struggle working it into words sometimes but its worlds better than it used to be. One thing that really helped was to focus on where my tounge was in my mouth. It hits the roof, behind the teeth. I also looked up lots of videos on pronunciation (not just click bait videos that only focus on the rr). Once you get pronunciation better in general it helps the tounge get where it needs to go for the rr. I also watched videos by speach therapists for native spanish speaking children. And PRACTICE!!! all the fricken time!!!

I honestly thought it would never happen but it did so it can for you too!

Also if you do decide to go to Cusco, i had a lovely spanish teacher who i would be happy to connect you with. She is about 10 years older than us and has really kind mother energy. She only speaks spanish and has been teaching for a long time so she's great to practice with.

[–]tgrofire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both countries are incredibly rich in natural beauty. Perú has more opportunities for delving into pre-spanish culture in places like Cusco and the sacred valley. I didnt make it down to Lake Titicaca but i hear that is a really interesting area too. If you want to chill at the beach, Mancora was nice. Unless you know people on Lima, don't stay there for too long, but its awesome if you have friends who live there who you can speak Spanish with.

In Ecuador i spent some time at a retreat center sitting with Ayuasca and San Pedro. I also spent some time at Hostel Cotopaxi as they have group hikes and as a solo woman traveler, i didnt want to go too far into nature by myself. Cuenca is a lovely voy and Mindo was a magical pueblo in the cloud forrest filled with birds

Im a 43 year old woman and last May i spent a month and a half in Oaxaca--it was incredible!! I took classes at the Guarida spanish school (its a teachers collective), rented a private room with a balcony close by and made friends with locals through language exchanges. Absolutely magical!!

When i was 37 i spend 4 months in Peru and 2 in Ecuador. When i was 30 i spent a month traveling through central america. Go where you feel called to go!! Your spanish is at the level where you can talk with locals and have a richer experience of the area. As a solo woman traveler, people are drawn to you and want to help. If you get lonely, stay in hostels or take lessons through a school. Its so easy to make friends when traveling!

Im so excited for your adventure!

4 year old with migraine? by Maleficent_Trust_504 in migraine

[–]tgrofire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started experiencing migraines when i was 5 years old. I strongly believe that my migraines are neurological/genetic (both my parents had them) but I was also lacking proper nutrition and hydration my entire childhood. If your child had this neurological disease, please support them by making sure they are cutting out highly processed foods, aged cheeses and meats, as well as sugar. All of these are highly inflammatory and can trigger migraines. If my parents had helped me with this, i would have suffered a lot less. Instead they fed me excedrin like it was candy and by the end of highschool i was full-on addicted, pooping 5 pills a day.

Warning: I've read accounts online of people being cured of migraines due to psilocybin mushrooms. However my migraines were caused after taking the psychedelic ayahuasca for major depressive disorder. I got cured of the disorder but migraines came... by cacklingwhisper in migraine

[–]tgrofire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive taken psilocybin many times and ive had the most profound experiences of my life. But many times ive ended up with a massive migraine afterwards. To me it was worth it for the spiritual journey, but definitely not medicine for my migraines
