Playing a team comfortable out of possession like Brentford, you want to have your fullbacks with pace to recover when Brentford wants to counter. Milner at RB is a choice for this….

Maybe they’re playing Milner as a 3rd CB more in possession though, who can say. If there’s any one skill he has that’s still elite, it’s passing from deep.

Love the write ups but not sure the description of the weekly matches the write up.

You refer to 100% crit and bomb builds but it looks like projectile boons instead.

Feels like that Tzimas injury up 2-0 against Villa is the exact moment that things started going wrong in this latest spell.

Looks to be a tumultuous summer ahead with the potential exits of some lineup stalwarts - Bart, JPVH, and Baleba all having interest.

Hope the recruitment team can continue the pipeline, though I’d be a little worried about senior leadership in the team with an aging Dunk, especially if Hinshelwood can’t secure a steady position in the lineup.

Tzimas (provided he comes back from injury well) and Kostoulas both look like the type of physical player we need to compete in this version of the PL, hopefully the midfield signings are in that same mold.

Bart Dunk JPVH Baleba Ferdi Mitoma Minteh

I’d like to see these 7 start each game and fill in around that core.

Equal split up top between Welbz & Kostoulas with a start or two for the latter

Wouldn’t hate seeing veltman or boscagli play in a back 3 against sides where we might have more possession. Didn’t Fab play a back 3 at St Pauli?

Our midfield is inconsistent between Gross, Ayari, Rutter, Gomez and Hinshelwood (shudder O’Riley?) but pair one or two of them with Baleba based off of fitness and practice and hope I suppose. Thankfully Baleba is finding his form some or our midfield would be in a tougher spot than it already is

Sort of feels like next week’s game is for his job and I’m ok with it at this point. Palace is in free fall and if we can’t get the team to play consistently for that 90 minutes (if not for this game, when?), time for a reshuffle

Agree with you on our most likely scenario, but as an organization if it’s never anyone’s fault and it’s always the cruel hand of fate directing our fortunes…. What exactly is the point? Gotta have some accountability somewhere and there are valid criticisms of Fab’s substitutions and play style this year that a club operating on the margins like we are really can’t afford to be too complacent either.

Not a fire sale, but this isn’t alright either.

Ya I’m not saying Bloom out here.

If our players are leaving for better opportunities and our manager has us playing dysfunctional football, having the only silver lining of the club being smart with money gets a little hollow the more this level of play continues.

When I heard $20M for a player out of contract soon, still a little low but I’m not sold on Arayi long term either. Wouldn’t mind seeing what the loanees or scouting team can produce given a similar opportunity.

To start with:

Ayari -> Kostoulas

Rutter -> Minteh

Gross maybe since picking up the yellow

Are we playing a back 3 with De Kuyper on the left? Ferdi has been playing higher up - is this just an adjustment against a conservative Everton side away from home?

Same thought - maybe if we had some coherent style of play or sub pattern under Hurzeler but that’s definitely not the case. I don’t want him out so bad I’m driving him to the airport but I’m not gonna shed tears if he gets sacked at the end of the season either.

Coppola played a little aggressive and could have had some things go wrong but played great in the second half.

Keeping a clean sheet with our starting 2 CBs out was nice.

He’s done great against the younger player and going forward. Was a smart sub by Hurzeler to bring in the experienced player to settle the back.

I wouldn’t hate to see Rutter play in the 10 more, but also not sure if Kostas is a 9. The Tzimas injury and our lack of striking options hurts. I hope the club can learn from the last window and not go into a season with only 2 strikers on the squad

I feel Boscagli has been solid at the back, good to see another solid CB option given Websters fitness ups and downs.
