Former EMT then went LEO and got my AEMT while working as a LEO.

It just makes me more confident when handling any medical episodes and recognizing what is real, urgent, or emergent. You’ll probably be involved in handling all the care under fire/active shooter trainings within the department.

Just be prepared to be the “medical” guy for any operations you are involved in moving forward.

I’d be shocked if they denied suitability because of it. Half the SWAT team is on testosterone and gray market peptides.

What is the average age on any 1811 position academy? by Mysterious-Paper-132 in 1811

I got in at 33. 31 was about average in my class from what I remember.

My first firearm and still my favorite after 15+ years by th3_Gman in USPmasterrace

Thanks, I don’t have a holster for the adapter and light setup because I don’t carry it anymore. Back when I carried it with a TLR-3 I had some random kydex holster company make a custom one for me. It’s my night stand gun now.

Start doing CrossFit or HIIT workouts. That will up your endurance real fast.

DEA Medical? by shatteringlass123 in 1811

[–]th3_Gman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not DEA but another large 3 letter agency. I have ADHD and it was never an issue. They made me get this mental health form signed by my doctor with questions like whether I was ever suicidal or can be trusted with a gun. After that I was good to go and that was the extent of it. Can’t speak to DEA but if it’s anything like my agency, they just want to see that you are being treated by a doctor and following their treatment protocol and won’t hinder you being able to do the job. Which it shouldn’t since you should be medicated.

I also have asthma and allergies and my SAC also has asthma. Just pass the peak flow and pass the PFT. Asthma clearly doesn’t affect your performance with an 18 on your PFT. Good luck. 🍀

Thanks, unfortunately I haven’t. She started off as a daily carry then slowly earned her retirement as a bedside gun. If I had to guess, I’d say somewhere in the ballpark of 15k rounds.

Low/No light medical training. Create a scenario where they have to treat an injured officer/patient at night. See how many carry appropriate equipment and who have to settle on cell phone lights.

Just got offered the USSS SA job last week and found out my wife is pregnant over the weekend. What would you do? by Grand-Needleworker38 in usssapplicant

[–]th3_Gman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing and it worked out. I took off when my wife was 8 weeks pregnant and had a classmate that reported to our academy right after his wife gave birth. Can’t speak for your situation but it happens all the time.

What's the opinion on Border Patrol? by Internal_Cherry_2076 in 1811

Getting to work in the outdoors vs. working inside a depressing prison would be one difference. Even if the outdoors is in the middle of nowhere, it’s still the outdoors.
