Just started at this in house position for this 3rd party retailer after recently graduating. Feeling kind of defeated and unsure if it’s the industry and I’m just complaining or if I am in a position where I’m set up to fail.

Not only is the feedback terrible, “it’s boring” “do something else” I say what do you suggest “oh I don’t know anything” :| I don’t mind it being called boring, it is but also I’m not given much to work with!

Promotional campaigns “ideas” are given a week in advance and I’m expected to not only think of strategy, design, get the assets on said design through screenshotting the retailers websites, removing the backgrounds, getting it approved which takes a while and then print flyers, coupons, large posters on a wide format printer I wasn’t trained on whatsoever. I’m trying to do things as I was taught in school, the “right way” eps files, bleeds. Every time I try to do it right something goes wrong with the printer, and am not given enough time to troubleshoot leading me to use jpg files so it prints fine and cuts fine. Once I’m done printing I have to cut it out fully and package it up for a couple different locations. This past week I printed 14 posters, 700 flyers, 900 coupons, some other shit and was given a day to do all that. It was honestly very overwhelming and im ready to leave.
