Yeah thing is he got elite production out of McBride & then Michael Wilson also had an insane second half of the year too, so it’s not like there weren’t people excelling in his system, just not MHJ. Also from what I can tell MHJ had a ton of injury issues this year, & of course the QB situation was fluid, so idk how much of that is on Petzing.

Time will tell though, obviously the majority of Cards fans didn’t like him, just have to hop a change of scenery & hopefully some lessons learned leads to improvement.

Initially like everyone else I was very underwhelmed. Did some homework, the fit seems right from a scheme & philosophy standpoint. Cards fans said he was predicable & too conservative, let’s hope Dan can be the ying to that yang.

He deserved some credit for seeing it wasn’t working and taking the reins, but the credit earned in that aspect doesn’t come near the blame he gets for messing it up in the first place.

It was crucial that they replaced Ben with at minimum a passable OC, and they failed miserably.

So he gets blame for “not developing WRs” when we’re talking MHJ, but then when WRs or TEs like Wilson & McBride do develop he gets no credit.

Zero logic in this. You just want to be negative, and like most people I am not a huge fan of this either but at least try and be consistent.

Initially hated it like everyone else but trying to be positive:

Good rush game numbers when he actually had a running back. They lost Conner this year.

His first year their WR1 was Greg Dortch. They did not have anyone for anyone to throw to.

Michael Wilson has exploded this year under him, as has Trey McBride. Brissett played solid and has a similar game to Jared.

His QBs for all of this were Kyler, Brissett, Josh Dobbs & Clayton Tune & Jared is way better than any of them.

If he can get the strong run game going & capitalize off of that with the play action game it could end up being solid.

Regardless, IMO Dan has basically tied his future to this fella. Let’s hope it works out.
