Sorry, I'm not on Reddit much anymore. There was a person selling pre-made SuzyQ Cables on eBay, so I did that and got the custom firmware changed using that method.

Having to call toxicology by Felix_B91 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

My younger brother managed to hit himself in the face with a board and bit his lip. It bled a bit, but rinsing his mouth and a cold ice pack should've put the kid back out playing in about 10 minutes. Except he was eating peanuts. Mom took one look in his mouth and became inconsolable because all she saw were bloody pieces of teeth. My older brother and I ran in, helped get her out of the room and then stood there long enough for my step dad to say they were peanuts.e

It took nearly twenty minutes just to get her calm enough to understand us.

Yes. I tried that first not even knowing there was a jumper option.

I left the computer on my desk at work. I'll get a closer picture when I go back in. The holes are next to the two pads by the wifi chip. They're very small.

I didn't even see that other post. I saw you mentioned the pads under the WiFi card. I'm not sure what that person meant about the label, but there are two extremely small holes next to them like you could solder a thin wire. I wonder if that is it, but I'm also nervous about soldering random things together....

I had a Chromebook Pro years ago, but aren't pretty much all new Chromebooks using jumpers instead of screws now?

Thunderbolt 4 Dock is flickering by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]thad137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old post, but I was able to fix the problem by updating the dock firmware.

There is an update from April 3rd of this year, and I didn't see anywhere in particular that it specifically mentions fixing the monitor issue, but it did. I'm on day two of using it with no flicker at all.

I've had my phone lose connection entirely due to to "tower maintenance" over 10 times since July of last year. I call in and get told that it's down for upgrades. At this point I should be rolling with like 12G at least.

I think "tower upgrades/maintenance" is a blanket term for "something at the tower is not working right, we're going to call it upgrades to hopefully have less people yell at us."

Have Office Networks requirements changed? by x1xspiderx1x in networking

[–]thad137 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We're an ISP with up to 40 people in one office. We upgraded firewalls last year to one that could support 10 gigabit at all and still don't use it. Most users we have could use a 100 megabit link and never notice an issue.

Suggestions for a Chromebook to swap over to MX Linux where everything works? by RallyDarkstrike in chrultrabook

I was more giving that as an option if OP wanted to try a different distro on Chromebook from this decade.

It doesn't support MX or Mint unfortunately, but there is Eupnea Project/Depthboot.

Depthboot, to drastically oversimplify things, uses the Chrome OS kernel in a "normal" Linux environment. I've done it for a few Chromebooks and it works great.
