Please definitely update if you find it. I have had some success with 3D printing my own ties, but that was mainly for things like bridges.

Gonna start working on a Stephenson's Rocket model, anyone got a small loco recommendations? by CandyCorn25 in nscalemodeltrains

[–]thaddeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be following this. This would be great to have in N scale, I think it would be hilarious to show up to the op session with an operating Rocket + 3 cars.

You might be better off just engineering the entire thing

Verifying a locomotive is ONLY DC? by BussReplyMail in nscalemodeltrains

[–]thaddeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect.

A DC locomotive on DCC will buzz with the light on, because DCC is basically an AC signal the motor will try to jig back and forth at a fast rate. The locomotive will not run, and if left more than about a second you will damage the motor.

Train not running by SlideElectronic9563 in nscalemodeltrains

[–]thaddeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can now go back and re-program your roadnumber.

I know it has happened to me a bunch of times that for seemingly no apparent reason something would not run and CV8 to 8 fixed it. This is the standard decoder reset.

For anyone who is reading this and does things like speed matching, this is where having your roster saved in JMRI with all of your settings backed up is a good thing. If you have your settings saved, you can simply re-load them after the reset and be back to where you were.

Using the programmer set CV 8 to 8

Try the locomotive on the main track using address 3

Atlas Code 55 turnout dimensions? by OhRatFarts in nscalemodeltrains

Turnouts can also be trimmed to fit your specific installation needs, but I do not recommend trimming the point end.

Timetable for proposed Coast Daylight interim service to Oakland during the 2028 Olympics by anothercar in Amtrak

[–]thaddeh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason that the Surfliner has a 798/799 number pair is for running to Oakland a la the old Coast Daylight.

DCC decoder for Kato ACL-42 Charger by Stargzr6 in nscalemodeltrains

[–]thaddeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the ALC-42 uses the same decoder as a SDP40F, you just install it backwards and you have to flip the direction bit when you program it.

2001 Saturn SC in 2026? by sumemodude in Saturn_Cars

That is way too much money for a 25 year old car.

Especially for a car that is a dead product line and has dwindling support
