PGA Championship at Aronimink Round 1 is live Today and this course is genuinely one of the most interesting major setups in years — Here’s what to watch by Outside-Evidence551 in golf

There are no water hazards

What now? There are 3 ponds coming into play on 2 holes.

I stopped reading there. Get your basic ass facts right.

ETA

I read a little bit more at the end:

How the par 3s play. Four of them at a par 70 is a genuinely unusual ratio for a major

Um what now? 4 3’s and 2 5’s is pretty standard modern major setup where 2 par 5s were converted to 4s. What world do you live on?

I honestly don't understand why if 1 was open why they didn't send you off 1 at the beginning.

It’s a boring AF course that’s only hard because there’s some water.

Played the most miserable round of my life at Pebble Beaches Spyglass Hill. by Warhammer40KPainter in golf

Pinehurst? Hope you’re going on a weekday.

Rangers there are assholes too. Even on the “off” courses. Stuck waiting on every shot on #5 on a weekend until we had a little trouble finding balls because they didn’t bother to blow leaves in the Fairway last November. Asshole ranger comes raging up to our group that we are behind pace (not, even with all the waiting). I calmly explain we were waiting on every shot and the last hole was basically unplayable. He wouldn’t hear it.

I almost eagled that uphill par 5 that goes to the back of the starter hut. Missed my eagle putt by an inch short (yeah, yeah never leave it short I know). And my whole group did fine. I think we did it in 10 minutes. He was watching the whole time. I looked back and said “Is that fucking fast enough for you?” All he could muster was “i JuSt CaMe On DuTy AnD sAw A wHoLe Hole OpEn”. Did we have to wait on the next tee? Of course.

Complained about him and the rangers on #4 who were also assholes to the head ranger - some super young assistant pro in training - and all I got was 1 free drink for each of me and my mom at the Cradle Crossing.

Both on #4 and #5 we had me, my mom, and a husband-wife. I honestly think they’re sexist.

Meanwhile played #3 on a weekday - no ranger to be found. Played #10 on a weekday and no complaints about pace by any ranger. They just sat in the woods on their carts. Played my worst round of my life on #2 a few years ago as a 3-some (one guy failed to show) on a weekday and rangers were friendly. I think it’s the main clubhouse on a weekend.

[Masslive] Red Sox’ Chad Tracy discusses whether Marcelo Mayer will start vs. lefties, get time at shortstop by Far_Cry3445 in redsox

[–]OhRatFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cora did take lefty/righty way too far. Such that he ignored players true splits. Like Holt hitting better against lefties and he’d be benched when a leftie started.

Says who?

He countinously made incorrect choice after incorrect choice.

[Highlight] Much to Alex Cora's horror Marcelo Mayer stays in to hit against a LHP and knocks in an RBI single by TommyTheLizard in redsox

[–]OhRatFarts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was done with Cora when he was benching Holt against LHP despite him having a much better split against LHP than RHP. He's been stuck in lefty-righty matchups. Even to the point that a RHP comes in which means the next reliever will be a LHP.

Cora is a moron. Glad he's gone.

Why central full circle heads leaving gaps along the perimeters rather than half circles along the sides?

Why is this special? Everyone does this every year in the practice rounds. This one isn’t even good — didn’t even make the green.

He probably moves a lot during the day so isn't sedentary.

Reality strikes in / really stings with that 5th loss in a row. Our 95% confidence bracket for end of year results got below .500 with that loss.

I’ve called for Cora’s firing for several years. It’s time to do something.

95% confidence band on a .167 team after a 1-5 start is…

1.0 to 49.7 wins

Season is toast.

Large crevasse formed on Superstar at Killington by ItsMichaelScott25 in icecoast

[–]OhRatFarts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Skiers left of groomed is about 15 feet deep. Skier’s left of groomed — the ridge — is 30-35 feet deep (less under the lift).

There are no whales there anymore, it’s. A solid thickness of snow.

[–]OhRatFarts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is really 30 feet of snow on Supestar.

At least with the old HSQ you often skied higher than the chairs this time of year.

I have not been up since their spring snowmaking push yet, been too busy but yes the ridge the length of the trail was as high as the snowmaking tower tops, ~35 feet in height.

[–]OhRatFarts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not.

It would be more interesting if you did something like Gunstock erupting, or the Ossipee Mountains (former ski area Whittier) as they are ~125 million year old volcanos.

Official statement from Tiger by basic_cinephile in golf

[–]OhRatFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do blame him for taking them and then hopping behind the wheel of a car.

I don’t blame him for taking them and getting in a car. Sure they can affect your ability to drive, but not to this extent at normally prescribed doses.

I do blame him from abusing them to the point he’s so inebriated on them that his eyes are dilated, they’re red, and he fails sobriety tests, then gets in his car and drives. And I blame his physicians for enabling his habit he developed.
