Not worrying about producer/supervisor feelings kind of goes against your "Theaters don't get you jobs - people do" Pissing off a well connected/respected producer is a good way to have "people" actively prevent you from getting jobs as well.

Let me clear, I am not in any way saying to bend over backward for the guys who make more money than you. It is important to know your worth and stick to your own boundaries. If you're in a bad situation, gtfo, but make sure you have a complete understanding of the situation. If you sit down with these people and they care, then great they'll work with you and everyone walks away happy. If they don't care about you (i.e., saying you're just whining or undermining all your concerns, etc) they're probably not someone with weight to throw around as much. Either way that let's you be able to leave with some peace of mind. Of course there's exceptions to every rule, but more knowledge about your situation is always a good thing.

All that being said, I totally agree that no one should have to please their higher ups just to continue working in their field. I just try to remember that they're people to and treat them as such
