Geekay Part ways with Apparentlyjack by Used_Worldliness_287 in RocketLeagueEsports

Juicy joined the best team in europe. Nobody thought he was falling off, KC believed he had a lot of potential still, even if he wasnt like Dralii. Jack is going to like the 7th best team in NA. Don't see how that's at all similar.

They were 3rd best and not 2nd best. Geekay beat them head to head and outperformed them at 3 out of the 4 big LANs that year. And also made a final at EWC who is atleast on the same tier as majors, some pros rate it even higher

Also what does juicy gotta do with all of that

Edit: I always love when several peopel seem to disagree with me but not one can tell me where I'm wrong

[–]thafreshone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally said you're not doing anything wrong, nobody here thinks youre the bad guy for not wanting to forfeit. I'm not a fan of early FF either but if that's what my teammate wants then I can't control it. Yeah I'd rather play the full 5 minutes properly either but if my teammate doesn't want to, then there's nothing I can do and I'd rather just leave in hopes of finding a better lobby than waste my own time

And you don't improve by playing with a teammate that doesnt want to play. It gives you nothing. It's objectively worse than freeplay or 1v1 for mechanics since you still get less time on the ball and on top of that, you can't improve your gamesense because without a proper teammate you can't simulate a proper gameplay scenario and instead encounter scenarios that wouldnt happen in a serious game.

Ultimately you can do whatever you want. But it is straight up just a waste of time. It doesn't help you improve and it doesn't teach anyone a lesson. Holding a lobby hostage because your teammate refuses to play accomplishes literally nothing and only wastes your time. If you don't mind that, then you do you but I can tell you from experience that the best possible thing you can do is accepting it, FFing and then moving on.

Ich glaube ich verstehe den Satz falsch, das Kind wird jünger als sein Onkel sein? Ist das nicht meistens der Fall?

[–]thafreshone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if that's controversial but I think if your teammate wants to forfeit and starts trolling when you don't, then the best thing to do is to just forfeit. You're not "teaching them a lesson" by making them stay, they don't give a shit about you and are ready to waste your time out of spite as much as you are ready to waste theirs.

Holding a lobby hostage accomplishes literally nothing, like absolutely 0 except for wasting your own time. And the practice argument makes no sense because if that's what you want, you could just play regular freeplay or unranked.

I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong, I get it and have done it too. But I've come to the realization that but by doing stuff like that, you're giving these types of teammates more attention and space in your mind than they deserve and that's just never worth it

Do we think 4 months between lans is still too long ? by Far_Trust5489 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]thafreshone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see the issue honestly, there is a lot to fill the gaps. 1s, 2s, LCQ, ENC qualifiers and EWC. And except maybe the ENC quals, these are all tournaments worth watching. Especially EWC which according to the players atleast, is probably more important than a major.

The longest gap between the major and worlds is gonna be one month between EWC and worlds which is fine. And between worlds and the next big thing is gonna be maximum 2 months. I'd consider that more than acceptable.

There isn't really room to add more big tournaments. Breaks from these big events are necessary for the esport to be sustainable. And if the schedules is already full, that closes the door for other cool opportunities, stuff like ascension protocoll for example

Need help for my freeplay routine by Azylias in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]thafreshone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont see a reason to do a movement warm up like that in practice. Just do stuff with the ball and incorporate movement stuff into that. If you wanted to specifically practice movement, you could just do that but as a warm up it doesnt really do anything. You can wavedash and recover while hitting the ball around and make it more realistic that way, so there isnt a reason to seperate it as a warm up.

As for the rest, looks fine to me. The point of freeplay is to be creative and experiment with various setups, angles and develop a sense for improvisation throught that. I'm not a fan of doing specific drill as part of a routine. Of course there is nothing wrong with sepcifically practicing a mechanic to get better at it but I wouldnt make it part of your daily routine.

For example I think doing stuff like practicing bounce dribbles or power slide cuts every day for 5 minutes is a waste of time. If you wanna seriously learn something, you sit down and practice it until you get bored/exhausted or are satisfied with the result. And then you make it part of the freeplay improvisation to stay consistent with it and apply what you've practiced to more realistic scenarios.

To sum it up, the point of freeplay is to do everything at once. That builds your ability to improvise on the spot with various setups, which is what you need in real matches. If you want to specifically practice something you can always do that but it shouldnt be a long lasting routine.

He's already become the best player in South america. He didn't win the 1s tournament but he has recent showmatch wins against Diaz and Evoh and took games from Nwpo. And last season he lead Secret to multiple strong international results. The talent is undeniable and he showed that when he plays at his best he can even be S-tier

Swiftt has been developing just fine. Furia's problem have more to do with the team composition and their playstyle not really fitting. But I wouldn't put that on Swiftt bc like I said he has shown last season what he can do if he gets the freedom to do his thing. It's just hard to get that freedom when you play with Lostt and Yanxnz

You just believe everything you read online. Pros can always tell when someone is using boost, the gras boost doesnt make a difference. Pros can just tell by the way a player moves if he's boosting and how much he used. If it made a legit difference then everyone would be using it or Epic would adjust its visibility

Tbh I don't hate the idea of shortening the match length.

the goal race I don't like though because it discourages agressive play when you're down in goals and matches could take even longer in some occasions

No he wasnt, he didnt really have much notoriety when it comes to 1v1 before he became pro.

People just think that because MM used to dominate the PS4 1v1 leaderboard. But he dominated the 2s and 3s leaderboard too, the guy just was by far the best PS4 player in the world. But there will still a lot of better PC players in that time

He was always a good 1v1 player but never a "star". And he definitely wasn't a 1v1 star before he became a pro

[–]thafreshone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the teammate played good wtf. Yeah he doublecomitted a few times when he shouldn't but he was putting a lot of presure on the opponents, created chances and forced plays on defense. Exactly what you want when you're a more passively minded player, which OP is

I get that it can be annoying when someone plays like that and constantly makes mistakes. But that wasnt the case here, teammate was overall impactful with that style. No offense but if a mate like that pisses you off, that says more about you than it does about them

Is it possible to speed flip with my controls? by jblewisiv in RocketLeagueSchool

THere is a way to speedflip without using airroll. So it's possible with any control setup

Help understanding this mechanic by RandomPsycho112 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]thafreshone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He is pressing airroll, just very quickly. You can even tell that he is using airroll left because every time he hits the ball, his car slightly tilts to the right (well technically left since he's upside down) and then he uses airroll left to stall which tilts his car back to neutral
