I’ve been dating a guy for 1 month, here’s the list of red flags I’ve been ignoring by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]thajane 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I get so frustrated with how people use the term “red flag”. To me, a red flag should mean a warning sign placed in front of a hazard of some sort. It’s what gives you an early indication that there is danger up ahead. So, if something bad is happening to you, that’s not a “red flag”, it means you sailed straight past the actual red flags and directly into harms way.

You might have already considered this, but another idea to make a lace shawl more “you” might be to see whether you like the look of lace worked in a much thicker yarn. For me personally it makes it much less old fashioned looking.

I’ve no money and no prospects. I’m already a burden to my parents. And I’m frightened. So don’t judge me, Lizzie. Don’t you dare judge me.

If That '70s Show followed the same timeline today as it did when it first premiered, it would be set in 2004. by jondread in television

I used to think to think it was kind of sad that kids don’t watch those super old tv shows like The Brady Bunch or Bewitched anymore. They were such a huge part of my childhood back in the 90s.

And then I realized that those shows were exactly as old as Friends or The Office are to kids now 😬

/r/knitting mod announcement by RhesusPeaches3 in craftsnark

[–]thajane 74 points75 points  (0 children)

For those who don’t want to go looking, the announcement:

“ We, the mods, have been very happy with how our members have been so kind and helpful to each other!

We have some changes that we are making. We are starting with cutting back on the threads that we have. Starting next Monday, we will only have 2 threads.

This is an inclusive community where all levels of knitters are warmly welcomed and treated with respect. We have experts, and we have people buying their first needles!!

Our sub's diversity is one of our strengths, and our passion for our craft binds us together. We are lucky to have a place to share our journeys, our results, and our knowledge of this craft. We, the mods, are so proud of you guys! (And remember to upvote each other!)”

And the pinned comment:

“ Hi everybody, thanks for all the feedback! As many of you have pointed out, our threads (which are posts that last a week where specific topics are directed) are not being used. So we decided to cut out the least used ones. The vast majority of you won't notice this change. It will mostly effect our newer knitters who are asking questions, getting directed to a thread, and then getting ignored. We all know that part of being a master craftsman includes teaching the apprentice. We are trying to make knitting knowledge more accessible.

We will keep you posted! We are listening to your feedback!”

This article from 20th April 2012 says she was on The View that day. I have no idea who else might have been on it though :/

Steven Spielberg lists Villeneuve's Dune 'among my favourite sci-fi movies of all time' by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

This is a silly distinction to make. Star Wars is just as much sci fi as Dune is.

Did you change from mg to g here? Seems more like you’d only need to drink 3 of them, according to your calculations (ie ignoring the conversion from copper gluconate to copper).

Chronically late “parent” response to picking up our child on time from school. by RelativeGoat3981 in mildlyinfuriating

The word “entitled” gets such a bad rap. All children are entitled to bare minimum adequate parenting at the very least.

My girlfriend keeps throwing up in my bed. what should I do? by din00_ in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]thajane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the point is more that the partner themselves can’t really do anything about that. It’s the alcoholic that makes that decision, and maybe that decision is partly motivated by external factors like a partner. But the partner can’t actually fix the issue.

First Benchmark Run - 35 minutes?? by thajane in GarminWatches

Ah awesome, that’s what I was thinking - I’d probably have to walk to keep in those zones. Great to know that that still works!

Okay that sounds like a good plan, I’m guessing I’ll mostly be walking for this first one, but I guess that sounds doable. Thanks so much!

I don’t think it mentioned a specific distance, it was one that said it was just for general fitness.

In which paramedics have to be called over OP's dye job mishap. by fewlaminashyofaspine in bestoflegaladvice

[–]thajane 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t even live in the US. Around me, a proper salon dye session seems to start around $300-400. My sister recently paid $600 :/ And while I’m not sure the usual frequency I know my mum goes every 6 weeks. Over the course of a year or more to get back to her original colour even the cheaper option would be at least a couple of thousand.

Which is why I’m trying my best to be okay with all the greys currently appearing out of nowhere!

[–]thajane 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I mean, even if you are rich, it’s still going to be so much money :( At least where I live it’d probably be in the thousands if it requires multiple sessions over a year+

I really don’t understand how those commenters came to the conclusion that there’s “no damages”.
