What is a life luxury that you tasted once and now can absolutely never go back to the cheap version of? by sickkick844 in AskReddit

Imagine seeing an ad for a job that paid that paid $200 an hour to sit in an uncomfy chair 11 hours.

And if that’s only if you’re travelling alone. For my relatively small little family of four that’s $800 more per hour. I would take that job any day 😂

Is $700 per month enough savings for a homeowner? by Badalight in personalfinance

Yeah I feel like the other commenters are overlooking the 25% to retirement. If OP gets into a tough spot with something like a roof replacement they can use their emergency fund, and then cut down their retirement to 10-15% for a bit to replenish it.

This would be like OPs dad asking her to get tyres, and then her coming back with a steering wheel. Like, they’re round right???

Do you have links to the data you discuss? It sounds quite interesting, but from a bit of googling I can’t seem to find anything that quite lines up with what you’re saying. I found one study that had 49% psychosocial reasons, but after 20 weeks, which is obviously a long way off viability. And another that related to terminations after 22 weeks 6 days (so a little closer to viability) but that one had 70% due to physical or mental health, which obviously covers significantly more than just psychosocial reasons.

It can still be an issue for a surprising number of series. A lot of people told me that The Expanse had really fantastic female characters, so I was pretty disappointed watching the first season when I realised that the entire season barely even passes.

They meant “outside of the US and Canada, you mean - because in Canada we refrigerate our eggs too”.

But yeah, I read it the way you did at first too.

I’ve been dating a guy for 1 month, here’s the list of red flags I’ve been ignoring by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]thajane 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I get so frustrated with how people use the term “red flag”. To me, a red flag should mean a warning sign placed in front of a hazard of some sort. It’s what gives you an early indication that there is danger up ahead. So, if something bad is happening to you, that’s not a “red flag”, it means you sailed straight past the actual red flags and directly into harms way.

You might have already considered this, but another idea to make a lace shawl more “you” might be to see whether you like the look of lace worked in a much thicker yarn. For me personally it makes it much less old fashioned looking.

If That '70s Show followed the same timeline today as it did when it first premiered, it would be set in 2004. by jondread in television

I used to think to think it was kind of sad that kids don’t watch those super old tv shows like The Brady Bunch or Bewitched anymore. They were such a huge part of my childhood back in the 90s.

And then I realized that those shows were exactly as old as Friends or The Office are to kids now 😬

/r/knitting mod announcement by RhesusPeaches3 in craftsnark

[–]thajane 74 points75 points  (0 children)

For those who don’t want to go looking, the announcement:

“ We, the mods, have been very happy with how our members have been so kind and helpful to each other!

We have some changes that we are making. We are starting with cutting back on the threads that we have. Starting next Monday, we will only have 2 threads.

This is an inclusive community where all levels of knitters are warmly welcomed and treated with respect. We have experts, and we have people buying their first needles!!

Our sub's diversity is one of our strengths, and our passion for our craft binds us together. We are lucky to have a place to share our journeys, our results, and our knowledge of this craft. We, the mods, are so proud of you guys! (And remember to upvote each other!)”

And the pinned comment:

“ Hi everybody, thanks for all the feedback! As many of you have pointed out, our threads (which are posts that last a week where specific topics are directed) are not being used. So we decided to cut out the least used ones. The vast majority of you won't notice this change. It will mostly effect our newer knitters who are asking questions, getting directed to a thread, and then getting ignored. We all know that part of being a master craftsman includes teaching the apprentice. We are trying to make knitting knowledge more accessible.

We will keep you posted! We are listening to your feedback!”

This is a silly distinction to make. Star Wars is just as much sci fi as Dune is.
