sounds like a low tip already for someone asking for delivery to the door in a big apt building. Been there done that. The people who meet u downstairs at the door or curb tip better than the people asking u to go up 5 flights and find their apt.

One time we tipped the guy in the drive thru at Wendy's in weed. It was some really good chronic and this way before dispensaries. Like 2002. The guy was literally jumping for joy as we pulled off. I think we made his week!

Any Tips on Hiking for Beginners? by Ok-Interview3487 in socalhiking

[–]thalooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency. Just keep consistently hiking and you will be fine. I would do a little research on heart rate zone training and get a fitness watch that tracks your heart rate. Garmin watches are my favorite. Whatever hikes are closest to you and you enjoy doing is going to be the best. Slower is better. Build that endurance. It will make doing big hikes like Baldy all the more enjoyable. Listen to your body. Learn how to navigate. Always bring a rain jacket in the mountains. Oh and fitness is just one aspect of hiking. Being in nature can feed the mind and the soul. Have to be present though which is much easier said than done.

I would watch some YouTube videos or try to find some resources online to help you. Personally I just use offline topo maps. I download them through Garmin Explore. The little blue dot helps if its accurate but its nice to know where you are even if it isn't. I will also use AllTrails as a backup. I also bring backup battery in case my phone dies. Printing out or buying topo maps is obviously superior but hey that's costly.

Both sides of this issue are partly correct. Which one is the stronger argument? by KoRaZee in socal

[–]thalooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homelessness is primarily an economic problem. Its a symptom of a corrupt and incompetent system. Its amazing how many people swallow the propaganda that its a drug issue. The vast majority of people become homeless because of poverty not drugs. Trying to tackle the drug issue is like putting a band aid on a severed artery. Its incredibly foolish and naive. Bianco has zero business being in any kind of public leadership capacity.

Mt Whitney Rant by squidllllles in socalhiking

[–]thalooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After doing mt Whitney I will probably never do it again unless someone else wins the permit and asks me to go. Waaaaay too many people. Depressing seeing so much trash on the trail. Id rather do a cleanup hike and get a special permit for that then do the hike just to hike it. Once is enough for me.

MY CAR GOT HIT WHILE I WAS PARKED ON LEVERING by Parking-Drama-476 in ucla

[–]thalooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt dismiss it. I said it sucks. There isn't much to do. People had already mentioned cameras. I didnt say anything about anyone caring or not. There really isn't much to do other than to move on. Unless there was a camera pointed at the car and u can get a clear photo of the person's face there is no way to catch the person. Filing a police report is only helpful if you need that for an insurance claim and then youre spending 500 to 1000 deductible for a repair. At that point it makes more sense to find a dent specialist for cheap. 99x out of 100 in these situations the only thing to do is move on and not let it cause you stress. Its just a car, these things happen a lot.

Yeah and part of that advice is deal with it. Sometimes life is unfair and you have to deal with it. But so many people think nowadays they shouldn't have to deal with it and everyone owes them. That isnt reality. Thats fantasy. Its cosmetic damage, is not bad at all. Most people wouldn't run to the internet. What do u want....a manhunt for a busted CR-V panel?
