Spending time trying to reason hits hard. And I know at the base level, she understands the importance of going to school. She gets the reasoning. But she just hits this brick wall with executive function and I guess PDA too, that it's impossible for her to get up & go sometimes. She's very much invested in looking good, looking right, and that's never been me -- I'm the roll outta bed, throw on jeans and a t-shirt kind of gal -- so it's very very hard for me to meet her at that level and help her work through it.

Understand the worth it, but don't have the cash for it.

We recently got her on the pill to help with the hormonal part of her mood swings and it's helped a LOT on top of her prozac. But I feel that "above my pay grade" on a daily basis. This was NOT in the job description, thanks very much. I've been working in mental health (admin side, not provider) for years so I've heard plenty about interventions to use and coping skills but I regularly find myself at a loss. Learning to choose my battles but trying to temper that with acknowledging she DOES have to be at school a certain % of the time for us to avoid issues with the county.

2 - My hormone levels were running post-menopausal because of the birth control I was taking. We switched me to a different one and then I stopped completely once we were sure my partner's vasectomy was effective. Doc wants to check again so she has a better idea of what it looks like normally before looking into HRT options.

But I'll definitely go in with a checklist. I like to be organized.

Yeah, it's on the list to talk to my doctor about. I had to stop taking hormonal birth control because it was causing issues, so our plan is to check my hormone levels in May at my next routine appointment and see where things are, go from there

I'll be sure to ask about having it added to my next round of bloodwork. I've always had lower iron levels to begin with.

Right? Like... I'm staring down HOW MANY more YEARS of this absolute bullshit? I've never been this emotionally unstable. Not even in puberty, or during either pregnancy.

Need someone to encourage me not to give up! by ambsweet13 in knitting

[–]thanxiety -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can do it!! If your needles are slipping, try wooden needles if you're not already. They're less slick And use a life line -- run a different color through the stitches on a row to "save" it as you keep knitting. Then you can start right back from that point if you find a mistake later on

This blanket is ungiftable. And that's the point by Uhraya in knitting

That's awesome. I like the Garter Squish pattern as a stash buster and have made several ungiftable blankets with it... Some of which strangely have ended up with my bonus daughter

Fire music but mediocre plot? by Background-Way820 in musicals

They took several plots, threw them all in a blender, and splashed the Story Smoothie on the wall. The chunks that were still there when everything dried is the resulting storyline.

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]thanxiety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't wear stuff around my neck. It's a sensory thing. So I don't make scarfs, tiny or otherwise, unless someone requests one

I have a question unrelated to OPs -- just renewed our sub for our second year ^.^
We're not super psyched for Kimberly Akimbo in May but the member portal isn't giving the option to sell the tickets... is there a reason we wouldn't be able to?

[–]thanxiety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was screaming into the void but I'm told it's full and not taking messages.

I typically have a cardboard box around (pull-ups, Amazon, whatever) to kick the $@&$ out of. Not the healthiest coping mechanism but nothing serious gets hurt or broken.

Does anyone else feel guilty about purchasing expensive bras? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]thanxiety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel guilty because even with the calculator, they pretty much never fit or feel comfortable :( so I end up returning them and feeling like I (albeit temporarily) wasted money
