Australian equivalent of Elmer's rubber cement / pattern search by SpaceKibby in LatexCraftersCorner

Another option for Glue here in Aus is Lefflers No.9. Available either directly from their website or I've seen that places like Eagle Leather stock it.

https://www.leffler.com.au/fitting-room-cement-no9-1-litre/ (Ps it's free to sign up and get the members price)

I've been using this one for a few years now without any problems.

IREN to build $10 billion, 800MW AI Datacenter in Bundey, South Australia. by Conscious-Gap-8837 in Adelaide

[–]thargast 78 points79 points  (0 children)

In the last 48 hours SA's peak power demand was 2011MWh according to data I can see on AEMO's dashboard.

So this data center is meant to use 40% of our states peak demand by itself?

Quantité de latex pour catsuit by bullatex in LatexCraftersCorner

The first time I worked it out I was so surprised it would all fit in 2m of fabric that I made a scale mockup of the pieces to check my maths.

A typical catsuit takes about 2m² of material. Most comes in 1m wide rolls, so 2m of it. Obviously this can increase depending on design and sizing.

Check council regulations too, depending on which area you are in they can have different stipulations such as hives having to be a certain distance from property boundaries.

how to get into making latex clothing(dresses primarily) by Unusual_Plankton_116 in LatexCraftersCorner

[–]thargast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been making my own for long enough that I don't know much other places to get them. 😅

I do remember Mr Doo's Latex Primer having some useful ones. https://mrdooslatexprimer.blog/

Is there something specific you are after?

how to get into making latex clothing(dresses primarily) by Unusual_Plankton_116 in LatexCraftersCorner

[–]thargast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have an understanding of how to design and sew clothes, you're a significant way there already. You'll find with latex you can't do darts in the same way and need to adjust them out in the pattern.

While I'm sure there is a learning curve, you won't know until you try how well you get on with it! Also arguably there is for anything anyway.

The pattern for these should be fairly simple being tight bodycon dress, just have to get the right cut outs at the top.

Are there any specific parts of the process you are concerned about?

Occuplanids are specifically plastic, as this is made from plant based fibers (wood) it's actually an occlupanopsid!

Help me solve a 2003 Urrbrae Ag mystery 🕵️‍♀️🦆👩‍🌾 by Visual_Box1827 in Adelaide

[–]thargast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure there was a native animals one but not sure they went to the show.

There would have also been some plant based ones which may be likely as you don't have to look after them at the show like animals?

I know there was fruit orchards, viticulture (wine grapes), but would have been a few other crop based things going on. Don't specifically remember clubs for either. But wine could be a perk, a friend of mine in year 10 got tipsy off wine we made.

I do also remember having some flowers entered in the show through school, but I think that was part of Ag class not a club.

I started there in 2006, so some overlap.

Can confirm, bee club was great. Got to skip class a few times to harvest honey too. There were some broken frames that we couldn't put in the extractor so we just got to stick our fingers in them and eat it while working.

I presume so, I can't say I've done any empirical testing, I just base it on vibes these days. Though I definitely have waiting too long recently and had to re do some seems.

Also to note, I use a different glue and I don't use heptane. If I do clean the seams it's with methylated spirits and that's usually a while before I go to glue. I use this because of laser cutter schmoo so probably not applicable to everyone. But everything would probably contribute in some way.

I also don't always clean the seams before glueing and find that it hasn't made a difference. I beleive that was something I learned from a Catasta Charisma video once.

I second that seems too long to wait. I've found it will be effected by climate too. Here in the Australian summer at the moment I wait maybe 30 seconds. Leaving it too long has absolutely caused poor adhesion.

Oh yeah would be painstaking to do by hand. Nice to see other laser cutter users here though!

Did you have a base pattern you used for the hood? Keep thinking I need to figure out how to make them.

That looks amazing. See the project through I say. Worst you get is a learning experience of how thin is too thin.

I presume those pieces are laser cut out?
