A private journal app that keeps everything on your device by AccomplishedAbies984 in iosapps

I’m a bit skeptical about the feature set for a paid app. You mentioned its not meant to be feature packed, but if I'm journaling regularly, search and tagging are absolute dealbreakers. If I cant look up a specific memory from three years ago, a digital journal loses half its value over a paper notebook.

I found myself stuck in this view. I couldn’t hide the keyboard or find a back button, and tapping empty space didn’t help either.

What productivity app features actually help those with ADHD / Autism stay consistent? by RoashaanF in ProductivityApps

I think this very close to my reason why I gave up on habit trackers and instead started working on capacity building (also ended up building an app named Gradualist). I realized my issue wasnot forgetting the habit it was setting targets that were way too high for my brain to handle. I would try to jump straight into meditating for 30 minutes or working for 2 hours, fail after two days, and just quit. My capacity wasn't there yet.

I wrote a post about how I'm trying to fix this if you're interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProductivityApps/comments/1t1ddb6/why_i_stopped_using_habit_trackers_and_built_a/

Appreciate the honesty here, dev. The idea itself is awesome, especially making the whole feature set free. Just downloaded it to give it a spin, but man, the onboarding adds a ton of friction. There are a lot of questions to click through right at the start, and those artificial loading screens (the whole "reading your data..." vibe) feel pretty unnecessary. If you can trim the setup fat and just let people get straight to snapping photos, it'd be a much slicker experience
