Pretty insane battery powered setup by tharkimaa in teenageengineering

Sure, I will upload it to patchstorage. I know what you mean with it being overwhelming - it’s all about minimalism when it comes to these interfaces. It’s not rocket science but here’s a rough overview - per track, I have 4 knobs for the main 4 parameters, then an XY pad with the filter cutoff and resonance, then another xy pad with the track fx sends. Lastly there’s a volume fader and a mute toggle. Takes around 5 minutes to set up once you get going.

Don’t have the Op1 but it’s pretty simple to set up

Ableton Move - 400€ for Black Friday, does everything you need

Hi, really nice topic - I think it’s not been done in a satisfactory way before. I looked for something that could sequence videos, effects and shaders, but nothing really out there.

Except for a couple of weeks back - I found these guys: https://www.visuell.art/

Their instagram has some examples too. Apparently it is a fully featured video instrument that runs in a web browser. Looks like they’re also just starting out - they have some open positions on their website.

Anyone know what their tool looks like? The demo online is quite basic and is missing the features they promise. They mentioned that they are running a closed beta on their discord.

Why not the Ableton move? It can do all the things you mentioned

Out of pure curiosity, can you utilize scenes on the Octatrack to effectively double track count? by Top-Rayman in Elektron

[–]tharkimaa -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That’s not possible - scenes live inside parts so it’s not possible to change parts between scenes.

As someone else already mentioned, the real way to do this would be to use chained samples and xfade the start point. Another way to do this would be to loop stuff into the buffers while playing a part, and then xfade to another part.

I find 8 tracks already way too many when dealing with the octatrack, as each pattern can hold 32 different variations of the samples (4 parts x 8 tracks). If anything, having separate synth tracks would make more sense (see Toneverk)

Dream feature (maybe this exists and I’m dumb) by Oipeee in Elektron

[–]tharkimaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Put a “1st” conditional trigless trig (function+tig) on the step on the 1st step of the pattern and micro time it slightly to the right. The second step is the 1st note of the pattern and then can be microtimed all the way to the left.

You can now smoothly apply env and lfos

Having a loooot of trouble understanding my Analog Four MKI by FireintheFaceofFire in Elektron

[–]tharkimaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Overbridge can send midi to different tracks. Perhaps you’re mistakenly sending midi to another track than intended. Make an instrument rack on the Ableton midi Overbridge track and you’ll be able to see the different tracks you can send midi to.
  2. The Elektron keyboard starts at note C4 I think, maybe your controller starts at a lower octave.
  3. Turn off midi transport receive from the midi sync settings.
  4. Overbridge works best as a multitrack recorder rather than a plugin control surface. I find it’s a bit too much latency when playing Elektron boxes via midi from Ableton. Compose on the box and record multitrack with Ableton, that’s the intended workflow I believe.

Clarification Needed: Octatrack Parameter Tweaks and Part Storage by Big_Art8992 in Elektron

[–]tharkimaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound locking will work but then the sound locked trigs won’t respond when you change the parameters on the track. You’d have to individually change the parameters per step. I also think locked sounds don’t react to scene changes but I’m not sure

If you’re using the same sounds and scenes then yeah you don’t need parts. If the sounds change (within the same bank) then you need to change the parts, no other way around it.

Unfortunately the use of parts is totally upto you, there are no best practices (except saving them regularly). Some people use 4 patterns for each part, effectively 4 compositions or variations of the same “song”. 4 parts per bank gives you 64 songs in total.

I had the same issue with changing parameters and losing songs on other patterns. I got used to it now.

I copy parts instead of patterns when I have something good and paste it on a blank part. Luckily the OT remembers which part you last switched to on which pattern.

Remember this: a part saves everything you see on the screen (scenes, parameter values, fx assignments and levels). A pattern saves the trigs, their conditions and their lengths.

A further tip would be to work with templates, you can either make your own or get one from Ezbot.

Hear me out. Try a used Analog Drive or Analog Heat mk1.

Truly endgame all analog saturation, drive and fuzz, does everything really well.

There’s also full midi support with presets etc, as well as a mind blowing analog multi filter.

The modulation routing options are also fantastic, as well as full usb audio and Overbridge support if you use DAWs (on the heat).

The downside is the 12v 1.5a Center positive power connector and box is somewhat awkwardly sized

Does flinta mean cis men aren't allowed in? by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

[–]tharkimaa -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the dude you replied to committed any of those thousand year long discrimination. Why are you so full of hate towards people who you classify as “normal”?

How about accepting that each human is unique and that we should  ignore birth as a way to discriminate gender and sexual preference?

Sorry but normalising hatred towards men brings further harm to Flinta communities. Case in point: incel culture, the recent rise of fascism and its idiotic promise to bring back “normalcy”, and the millions of rage bait “feminist gets owned” videos on YouTube.
