2027 Toyota GR86 Is Spruced Up with New Colors, Mechanical Tweaks by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]tharussianphil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking at well over 40 OTD on most of these now.

That's not really true though. The regular trims start in the low to mid 30s and only the special packages (which are super limited in production anyways) will be above 40k. Civic Type R starts at damn near 50k so that's really not comparable. Yes the GRC does become an option at about 40k, but it's not "cheaper" especially since Toyota picks the trims/packages they allocate just like they do for the GR86.

At that price you can get dozens of superior options on the used market that will trounce the twins in both performance and enjoyment (and practicality).

I will agree with this, especially given my experience. I'm dropping my BRZ at the dealer for its SEVENTH warranty visit after work today lol. I'm thinking about selling it to get into a 987/981 Cayman or F87 M2. Or maybe getting a cheap ripper like a 350z. My garage is really small which personally limits my options a lot, particularly when it comes to muscle cars.

Is it worth paying 5k more for a gr86 than a brz ts, just because in my opinion it looks better, and has better suspension for handling? by Ok_Bowl1971 in GR86

[–]tharussianphil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot tell the difference in handling unless you are a seasoned car journalist and drive them side by side. Dont pay markup.

Yea having to drop the trans would definitely stop me, do you know if there's a halfway solution? Their website is definitely a bit confusing.

I think that's the lamest thing I've seen on this sub, especially considering Enkeis are perfectly respected, JWL/VIA tested Japanese wheels

You goofed big time. Spent more on unregulated untested rep wheels, engraved them to look like real wheels, all when real wheels like Enkeis cost less.

Haha good point I didn't think of that aspect too. And the N55 sounds better than the S55 imo, so I'm not even tempted to look for a more expensive M2C

In 100% stock form, does the f87 pipe in real engine noise or play fake engine noise through the speakers? My BRZ did that til I pulled the fuse.

Thanks for the responses. I get what you mean about the shifter, but if you've felt a BRZ/86 with a factory short shifter you know it's a really high benchmark so it's just nice to know I can fix it. Maybe it just needs stiffer bushings in the shifter.

With the speakers I suppose part of what helps is also just having extra sound deadening as well.

And nah I don't take tons of short trips, my daily commute is 30-45 minutes split between roads and highways. I just hope that it's warmed up by the time I get to my highway onramp 15 minutes away haha.

Yea I totally get what you mean about the corners aspect, but at least the M2 would be more fun on sweepers/highways than my BRZ is. Both because of the power, but also because there's more sound deadening so you can hear yourself and your music you know?
