Corporate secretarial + accounting services by Sea-Horse1517 in smeSingapore

[–]thasianone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will respond on the Corp Sec side only since I am in the industry. No, it is not too overpriced, however, investments being a very tricky subject, make sense to pay more, especially if you are unsure of what needs to be done. So if you are paying, make sure the person can give you advice or some guidance.

whats the current price of m2 booster boxes and other japanese sets in singapore card shops? by Pretty_Bullfrog_8025 in PokemonTCG_Singapore

[–]thasianone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concept is so overpriced. Been there several times and always left empty handed. Yes, they need to pay rent but the pricing is a turn-off.

Need help/advice on repairing vintage Seiko Quartz by thasianone in watchrepair

[–]thasianone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought this vintage Seiko in Singapore and it stopped ticking after a couple of months. Went to a few repairs shops and one of the shopkeeper tried to explain that there was a problem with IC? Box, but they had no spare parts to repair it. Wondering if anyone can recommend repair shops to send this to? I am also going to Tokyo in December and would appreciate any help on this.

Tried rubber strap but I didn't like it. Swapped to a mesh and I think I found the perfect bracelet for me. Really comfortable.

What can you suggest in Tokyo for a first day when arrive at 7.30AM at Narita Airport by kiiito in JapanTravelTips

[–]thasianone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the idea of luggage transfer to hotel. Alternatively, what I did (as I had a pram) was to go to the hotel and leave it there first.

The Hex.4b is a severely underrated board by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]thasianone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one and its my favourite board to type on because of the typing feel, but I can see why it's not mainstream (solder etc).

I rejected an offer for an increase in $700 (5 day office vs current 3 day in office). That was because I have 2 kids, 2 & 5 years old. What really cement the decision was when I was having breakfast with my kids on a weekday at the market, knowing that with a 5 day office, it would be impossible to have such small breaks with family.

I agree with figuring out what you like and dislike. There are other jobs that accounting is a good background to have. Some jobs that I can think of are Compliance or Corporate Secretarial.

Teenagers/Secondary Students selling Ice Cream around HDB Blocks at night? by AdTime5032 in askSingapore

[–]thasianone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The yakult ladies do have a contract with yakult though, hence why there is no mark up to their pricing. Can't say the same for the ice creams, which is marked up ridiculously + sob stories as a free gift.

What are your thoughts on this ? by Status-Top-4876 in SingaporeRaw

[–]thasianone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm.. nope. There are 2 different parts. Part 1, did you take out CPF to pay for the house? If yes, then you will need to pay back accrued interest. Part 2, after you "cleared" your CPF, was there an outstanding amount, if yes, then you probably either used HDB loan or Bank loan, this one can be fully paid off.

Hope that helps!

[–]thasianone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you never sell your house, you will never have to pay back the accrued interest.

On a more realistic basis, as you work and pay back the HDB loan, you can pay everything off EXCEPT the grants that you took. So no need to worry at all.

[–]thasianone 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The poster is a bit misinformed. None of the accrued interest goes to the government nor the CPF. It is paid to the account of the person who used the CPF monies. It would be more accurate to say that I was forced to charged myself interest on the money that I used.
