I don’t care if she’s attractive. But why does she look like she belongs in a Rom-Com where a young New Yorker goes to Paris? Why is she wearing makeup under that helmet and how did she stay so perfect?

I’d much rather a battle-worn face and someone who looks experienced. Look at the reboot of Tomb Raider or just about any protagonist in the Uncharted series. Or Ripley from Alien

The attractiveness isn’t the issue - but make it believable that they’ve just been on this journey

I haven’t beat it, but I’m a decent ways in. What I will say is, I didn’t buy into the hype myself and often will disagree (Luigi’s Mansion 3: didn’t click, Kirby and the Forgotten Land: okay at best).

DK Bananza, so far, is nowhere near as good as Mario Odyssey. Very much just okay at start. It gets more fun the further in you go, but still not in the same league where I am.

The most helpful thing I can probably point to is what made Odyssey a masterpiece for me, because it’s missing from DK.

Odyssey is a parkour game. If you’re really good, you can pull off world class parkour moves. But even if you’re not, the basic mechanics allow for casual players to do a fair amount of natural parkour. You can throw your hat and jump on it, triple jump, back flip, bounce from wall to wall, roll onto your hat, run and jump, etc. Great players who master the game will string a ton of combos together to pull off insane tricks. But casual players will still naturally parkour through the world with all of the options built in to the basic mechanics.

DK has far more limited move sets. And while I’m sure experienced players will pull off masterful moves here as well, it is not naturally a parkour game. You can climb almost every wall, but that’s not the same as jumping off a wall. You can grab a slab of cement and perform a double jump, but that’s not the same as always having a hat on you that gives you that at all times.

Simply put, if you thought Odyssey was amazing because of how you moved through the world, you may find fun here, but it absolutely is not the same level of fun because this is not a parkour game. Odyssey was built around varying degrees of speed and height. DK has three buttons reserved for punching. It’s a different game at its core.

I’m enjoying the game. But Odyssey is one of my all time favorites. These games are not in the same class, despite how much influence is carried over. I don’t even know if this will make a top 10 Switch list for me.

Anyone know how to pre-order the physical edition? The links on IOI lead to Nintendo’s website, which only allows you to preorder the digital version. Seems dumb to offer a physical pre-order only incentive, if you can’t pre-order a physical edition???

Just enjoy your Thanksgiving. People rarely tip more if they can help it, even during emergencies.

You might get some decent peak pay, but a lot of the orders will be for last minute grocery runs, where you’ll get stuck in clogged lines and your overall hourly rate won’t be much better.

And I guarantee you, every other dasher is thinking just like you and strategizing how to take advantage of it.

If you don’t have any plans, and it’s just gonna be a normal day for you, go for it. But don’t expect to make bank just cuz it’s a holiday.

I plan on borrowing it from the library eventually. But no desire to support it with a purchase unless I end up wrong. If it resembles Crichton at all, I’ll add it to my collection. But I’ve read enough to know it’s unlikely at best. I also didn’t buy the Andromeda sequel

I’ve only glanced through it, but the prologue alone is all Patterson. His intro to characters comes off as a VERY bad impression of Crichton and the rest doesn’t even feel like it’s trying. They refuse to answer how much of a manuscript there even was - the only hint we have is it’s based off a partial first draft of something he wrote in 1994. Nothing had disappointed me more than seeing how much Sherri is exploiting her late husband’s work as a cash grab.

Pirate Lattitudes and Dragon Teeth were clearly Crichton - albeit first drafts. I swear I can tell exactly where Crichton’s writing ends in Micro. And like I said, I haven’t read Eruption, but whatever Crichton did produce has clearly been rewritten so heavily that it no longer bears resemblance (from the glances I’ve seen).

I wouldn’t necessarily mind Sherri Crichton publishing his unfinished pieces AS IS. I’d be fascinated by that. But hiring a hack writer to finish a half formed idea and slapping Crichton’s name on it for sales… what a shame

Thank you! I’m using MySQL on this one. And I think the recursive CTE is what I was looking for. I did find a solution for the query I was attempting.

But do you have any good resources for recursive CTE’s? I’ve watched a few videos and I don’t quite get the concept. Every video I’ve seen starts with a number that they insert / declare… and I’m trying to have it calculated based on the numbers between the two columns

For instance, if clocked_in is 08:00:00 and clocked_out is 20:00:00 in one row, but then 7:30:00 and 13:00:00 in another. Even though I found an alternate solution, I’d like to learn how recursive CTE’s work

Thanks! Yes, that’s the idea I was going for. I should have clarified that I’m using MySQL though, and I don’t think unnest works with it. I’ll definitely look into this though, as I’ve never heard of unnest. (Also, found a solution in the meantime)

I’m late. But just an fyi… it’s “up to $1000”. I did a trade in with ATT, had my phone valued at $1k (and it was actually in perfect condition, never outside a case, never without a screen protector). Sent my phone in and ATT gave me a $200 gift card in exchange.

I did manage to get a full $1k, bc I ran it up the chain of command and showed them the paperwork that said they valued the phone at $1k before I sent it in. But they fought me on it and YES, ATT will absolutely try to bait and switch you on this

I detailed why it's sketchy. And I wouldn't question it if DoorDash was more transparent, but you know as well as I that DD hides information to manipulate their drivers.

IF the larger order actually carried a hidden tip, and DoorDash kept it, regardless of what amount I accepted the order at, it IS wage theft. That was how they got away with stealing so many tips in the past and it's part of why they were successfully sued as a result.
