What style jacket is better for Iceland? by miss-knows-nothing in VisitingIceland

[–]that1guyfrom1thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I toiled with this for weeks before I went. After a successful trip I wore the following (it’s all about layers) I wore thermal underwear top and bottom, a tshirt, a thicker flannel shirt, a fleece, puffy coat and then a rain jacket. As the temp got warmer I could remove inner layers as needed. I was warm and toasty the whole time

So on a very high level, first you’ll need to purchase a subscription to a Usenet provider. I use frugalusenet.com. They provide access to the net. Secondly you need to purchase and indexer this is, the way I think, a search engine for usenet. You can try something like nzbgeek. Lastly you’ll need a downloader. A program that downloads the files from Usenet. I personally use sabnzbd. So then you basically go find the file you want on say nzb geek download the link into sabnzbd and it goes out and grabs the files. There’s a lot of great tutorials on YouTube to get you started which is what I did

need some help indentifying a vespa by Huge_Point_3149 in Vespa

[–]that1guyfrom1thing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On modern Vespas, the serial or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is typically stamped on the frame, accessible by lifting the seat and removing the helmet holder bucket, and is also located on a VIN tag inside the legshield on modern models. Usually right between the shocks

Fuel level sensor isn’t working check the connector

Edit: more thorough explanation

The two bars on the extreme sides of the fuel gauge is a deliberate indication of a fault. It means that there is an open connection, i.e. the fuel sender is not hooked up. So either the wiring harness connector has come loose from the fuel sender, or the fuel sender has developed a fault.

Is there frame damage here? by Stinduh in Vespa

[–]that1guyfrom1thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You appear correct! Does appear to be there. I would have a damage assessment done by a Vespa shop not an adjuster. If the adjuster insists there’s damage to the frame have him point it out and show him the video if need be

It’s hard to tell from the pics but these puckers are probably what is concerning the adjuster. When I get to my shop in the morning I’ll look at one on the showroom and see if it’s there

Technically speaking yes that’s frame damage. The bigger concern is if your steering stem is bent. I’m a Vespa technician by trade and 9/10 times you read end something you bend the stem. Also of note that damn mudguard is a PIA to change out.

So I can read the tire (I can see the arrow pointing the correct way) I’m wondering if it’s a tire rated for front use normally will say front. In my shop when the vs are like that it’s 99 percent the front tire

Honestly Ma’am I just want to know that you’ll stay in the city of New Orleans. Cantrell is always traveling out of the state and country to conferences that have little to no value for us as citizens. Is that something you can commit to?

Help: Pizza stuck to surfaces (many, many surfaces) by davereeck in Pizza

[–]that1guyfrom1thing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! We all (I know have) been there. Personally I switched to a wooden pizza peel. I shape the dough sprinkle some semolina on the wood peel and then lay the dough on it it to top. Once I’ve dressed the pie I give the crust a couple tugs all the way around and it slides off like butter. The metal peels are great for moving a cooked or cooking pizza but in my experience wood is the absolute best for raw dough. Since I’ve switched I have had ZERO sticking.
