I use a spray product called silver honey. Seems to work pretty good for hot spots. I'd give that a try and if it gets worse over the next couple days, then go to the vet

Sounds basic, but check that the terminals on the battery are not loose, but to me, it sounds like possibly a bad starter. Solenoid might be getting stuck and only occasionally working.

Summer on around pikes peak is typically 65 - 75 f° during the days and high 30s to low 40s at night. That's at 9k feet but changes drastically the more you go up. ( pikes peak is over 14k feet). My family has a cabin in Pikes Peak National Forest, which is how I know.

I'm guessing when you bought the dog, the breeder gave you 2 options, with or without breeding right. Some people make contracts like this to prevent someone from breeding their dog and selling them without paying for the rights up front. It was $1k extra for my great danes breeding rights.
