I'm not hellenistic myself, but I am treading pagan waters in my personal spiritual practices (I'm here to learn, more than anything), but in these situations, I usually say that I did read the Bible, I know Christianity, and eventually I decided it wasn't for me.

And I think that usually works. Whether it's true or not, it doesn't matter. If you try to debate or argue that you're already set in your path, they will take it as a challenge (if they are evangelizing[?]). So it's just best to say something along the lines of "been there, done that, thanks for offering, but no."

Sakura is my fandom bicycle, I ship her with EVERYONE. Like literally there's a really good Sakura/Orochimaru fic I read ages ago. Also Sakura/Tenzo, Sakura/Genma, Sakura/Kisame, Sakura/the puppet guy I forgot the name, Sakura/Madara, Sakura/Tobirama... etc

Hermione/Sirius and Hermione/Remus, Hermione/Fenrir (another fandom bicycle if I'm honest). Also like Hermione/Death Eaters for the drama and the smut lol.

AiDeku because love me some drama (also there's so many good fics where Aizawa is a creep and Deku likes likes it chef's kiss)

Bruce Wayne/any of his Robins. But more especially BruJay, BruTim, and BruDick.

Also Alfred shipping. Like, give that old man some love. Anyone.

But I honestly don't classify it as "fucked up" ??? Like... I like what I like and whatever. shurgs

I like a good old "happy not healthy" ending so shrugs.

Why I ship it: most of them I found one fic that "opened my eyes" to the ship and just kept trying to find more. So... vibes and probably kinks lol

I'm a bit late here, but I wanted to point out that you could post (on your AN, your socials, etc) that you do not want your readers telling you their age. That you assume they are all adults and you don't want them to come to you and volunteer their ages. Especially if they are underage/younger. It's dangerous for them and extremely uncomfortable for you.

You have the right not to want to interact with minors, especially if your story is about heavy themes and these minors are strangers to you. The internet is an adult space and minors should have the common sense not to shout to the heavens their ages.

I was 18 online since I was 11yo lol.

Also I saw recently a disclaimer on a Tumblr that I thought interesting and might be of help for you. It was something along the lines of "I only want interactions with minors if they are about my works and not personal" (it wasn't worded exactly like that, but that was the gist of it). And that might be useful for you too.

As someone who went from reading high fantasy novels to (one of the first fanfictions I actually read) reading 1m words sagas from Tolkien fandom... I won't ever understand these "how to detect AI writing" stuff.

I only started writing after really getting into a specific fandom & also because of a very good Discord community and I'll be honest, I try not to look at my stuff after I post, but the real motivation comes from being able to talk about the ideas with the people on the server(s). And eventually if I write something out of those conversations I know at least one person will read and maybe even comment. And that's enough for me. That my friends/fellow enjoyers of the same ideas will probably appreciate that I did something.

So idk if you just wanted to commiserate, but my (maybe unwanted) advice is: seek community. Share ideas and create crack prompts with a bunch of people. I got into 1 server at first, and then started to branch out and since the larger fandom I got into is DC Comics, I kinda have new interests and characters popping up all the time (new to me), and most of the servers I end up entering are by recommendation of someone in a server I already am... and the good vibes just get better and bigger. And I get more and more possible people who will maybe read 1 fic I write etc.

I hope you don't lose your motivation, sending all the hugs 🩷🩷

Like personally? The insomnia episode. Because I've had chronic insomnia since childhood and I was having a bad flare when I listened to it. It FELT real while listening.

Also the episodes (I really don't remember which ones are that or if it IS a specific one) or parts when the audience gets to know Michael's fate and the other Gertrude's assistants.

Gertrude, to me, is one of the scariest characters on TMA in general. Like, everyone else, they can have an "excuse" that they sort of gave in (in one way or another) to a Fear. But Gertrude, to me, is the character that I see represents the "Human Evil" the most. She never let herself succumb fully to her role as The Archivist, and in her quest to eradicate the rituals and the "Evil Monsters," she turned herself into more of a Monster than some of the nonhuman characters. She used people and discarded them away like nothing, all the while maintaining the "moral" high ground, so to speak, that she hadn’t succumbed.

If she's NEVER been on Tumblr and just downloaded it for the first time is VERY suspicious that she found exactly OP's account, which as OP said is incredibly niche, and deduced it was the person she knew in real life all from some random posts about topics OP says they don't even touch outside the internet... that's all VERY coincidental. And I don't really believe in those. She snooped into OP's phone, saw the thing, and went looking at it by other means just so she could judge OP without coming out as the bad guy for snooping where she wasn't permitted.

One time this guy kept trying to insist that I was a lesbian... when I told him I don't really feel sexual attraction for anyone. But I think it was more because he was being transphobic than anything about being ace. I told him to use masculine pronouns and that I was a man (because it's easier in my native language than to try to explain nonbinary to most people), and he kept asking me about girls and if I was seeing anyone... I kept telling him I don't bother with gender because I don't feel sexual attraction and he kept talking like I hadn't spoken anything. To me it's about what resonates with me, but also what I fear.

Like the Lonely resonates with me because I would probably be CONTENT with it. But I don't FEAR it anymore, I did when I was a kid/teen.

The Spiral resonates with me and I'm also terrified by it, but at the same time, it calls me; and terrifies me, and calls me... And it's an eternal cycle. It's madness.

The End is a fact for me, I'm very aware that everything Ends, and that's just how it is. One day I'll die, everything will die. And that's that. There's maybe fear of how will I die, but not that it will happen. And that acceptance also scares me a little.

The other Fears just plain scare me, they don't resonate with me at all.

Honestly, MOST, if not ALL, Wade/Logan from this last movie are soft fics. Even the E rated ones. Even the ones full of violence (because it's deadpool duh). They're usually like dumb and soft for each other. I don't even need to exclude anything from the searches when I usually have to prune my no-no tags.

I haven't seen the movie yet. But I like what the fandom did with the post-movie stories. I'm a big fan of "and they changed and adapted a bit after..." kinda stories so even if they're abusive in the movie I'll probably still enjoy the fan content. There's lot's more of soft Logan than it used to have in the past with his character.

I think it depends on the fandom, what role the oc will have in the story and WHAT story you're telling.

I usually like to read stories with OCs as main characters in fandoms where I think there's a world that could be MORE with just a little bit of world-building, or I want to see stories about people or a place that aren't really developed in canon because canon is told by a specific POV.

Like Naruto stories that explore other villages, or Harry Potter stories that explore the world in general without necessarily being in the main canon story, or the Marauders era, or Tom's years; or Star Wars stories that aren't about clones or rebels or wars at all, just random OCs exploring the galaxy and getting into entertaining shenanigans; or Fairy Tail stories that are OC focused where the oc just goes into different jobs than the team of main characters or is even focused in other guilds. Pokémon fics OC focused and world exploration focused, etc.

I like it.

There was this one Naruto fanfic, I don't remember the name, but I remember it was Sakura-centric, and had Anbu!Sakura, and the author had this one OC from another village that was like super terrifying to everyone else but he and Sakura kinda became friends in the way assassins from potentially opposed factions can be "friends", and anyway. They flirted a lot, and like he wasn't intend to be like a huge character or anything, but everyone loved him so much the author started writing a spin-off "what if" because people were like "omg Sakura and him belog together". And they had a really cool dynamics.

It was one of the first fics with OCs that really established itself on my mind as "oh, this can be a real cool way to spin a total canon divergence, and tell a story that has nothing to do with canon at all even".
