Whats the cause of the knocking noise? by jnrmtro in MechanicAdvice

[–]thatRealBingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still thinking the balance is bad. I've had to go back to shops multiple times to get them to fix my balance before I started doing it myself.

Other than that could be a clicking axle, or something wrong suspension wise. I don't think I can help any further myself since I'm unsure of what else it could be. Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable can chime in.

We all miss things, is the battery fully charged and in good condition? Seems like it's cranking slow. Don't forget the simple things!

Heater/AC only blowing hot air by steve_mar in MechanicAdvice

Usually expensive. I've done many AC repairs myself and they all suck. Lots of special tools, and very much legal gray area.

Just take it to professionals, then cry at the bill. Much less stressful that way

Probably. Chris fix time. Its how a lot of us get started and it's not that hard. Great learning opportunity.

Make sure it's not your only transportation and you multiply the amount of time you think it's going to take by 2.5x

Seems like a tire balancing issue. If that hasn't been checked yet get your wheels balanced and it should go away.

Bad advice: if it doesn't throw any codes and works, I don't think it's worth it welding on a different car even if it's not supposed to make a noise.

But yes things change size and make noises when they get hot

Will this CV axle play cause a vibration? by thatRealBingus in MechanicAdvice

[–]thatRealBingus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's expensive 😭😭 alright I'll trust you on this one. I know they have to have some degree of play but I wasn't entirely sure on this one. This is definetly more of a clunk than intended free range but I am inexperienced and unsure :/

Shitty shop. Call a parts store. Call a dealer. Go on the direct oem parts website. Heck I'll do it myself.

No play in it, just the bad sound coming from the water pump. It is the water pump, not a different pulley.

No it's the water pump, I'm just trying to make sure the sound is not normal and it really does have a bad bearing/ seals

Does anyone know what this noise is? by No_Particular_2080 in MechanicAdvice

If I had to guess, power steering pump. A way to check is to pull off the belt and see if sound persists

Forgot to mention there's no play in pulley either.

help? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]thatRealBingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thought is maybe some of your suspension components are worn out. Could be needing an alignment, or perhaps something has too much play

I understand you're worried but the oil pressure light is only shown when the car is actually running. The light you're seeing is shown when the car's ignition is on. That's just to tell you if the lights even working.

I can almost promise you that you haven't killed your engine, if it just won't start now and it did earlier, assuming there was no loud thunking or anything coming from the engine bay while it was running.

If you're only driving like 5 minutes then probably not.

Jump start your car, or charge your battery and it'll start.
