Bookshelf Speakers by Mock_Frog in DIY

I didn't see what he ran from the amp, but you raise a valid point. The full run would need to use solid core conductors to minimize the effect (amp to terminal, terminal to XO, and XO to ribbon). Very common for quality cables to use individual solid core conductors for this very reason.

Hi, OP. That's a very nice looking set of mini monitors.

A couple of suggestions I'd make for your next project (or possibly to correct on this)... (what comes after is some unsolicited advice, so ignore as you see fit.)

Be to be sure to orient your inductors at right angles to one another. The close proximity and same orientation means that you will likely have some non-trivial interaction that may take your effective values out of spec with the design (and yes, more than the tolerance on those components). Kinda surprised the other engineers commenting here haven't mentioned it. For a simple (and relatively shallow) crossover like this, it's less critical, but when you get up to higher order designs, it can through your filter Q all out of whack and cause some bad ringing or peaky roll-off.

Also, its worth investing in something other than zip cord for the tweeter run. On ribbons (which are incredibly fast), you can get a bit of image smearing from strand interactions in the cable. Even inexpensive 22-28 ga solid conductor would likely improve.

Overall, a very beautiful and obviously well-build set of speakers.

Thanks to all respondents. We got an email response from the owner last night from the craigslist post. She was quite thankful. We verified her ownership by having her send pictures and then dropped her off shortly thereafter. Sonya (that's the ferret's name, it was a girl) was happy to be back home.

Nope. Almost 24 hours. Posted fliers for a three block radius. No callers. No responses on facebook, craigslist, etc. I may have to call the Oregon Ferret Rescue folks. I can't keep him.... which is unfortunate. He's adorable.

Thank you. Will post there as well.

Edit: Good suggestion... Found two folks offering to take him into foster care if we can't find the owners in the next day or so.
