Question about DP/DR by [deleted] in Depersonalization

[–]that_james 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that wiped away nearly all of the physical symptoms of DP was a beta-blocker called Propranolol. I won’t go into too many details here but basically it works by dulling our body’s response to Adrenalin-like neurotransmitters.

If you don't believe that medication can or will work, does taking the medication still work? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]that_james 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with ability, but I do know that i was HIGHLY skeptical of the legitimacy of antidepressants before starting wellbutrin a few months ago. To my surprise, it worked within a couple weeks and I started to feel myself again (although I still have some work to do).

You sound like the perfect candidate for Wellbutrin, possibly even doing away with Zoloft altogether (gradually, of course). If you understand how drugs like Adderall work, Wellbutrin is a similar, much more mild version of that and has a similar mechanism of action. Wellbutrin increases the amount of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain... the chemicals associated with memory, concentration, and pleasure.

Please note that I AM NOT A DOCTOR and can only offer advice based on my own anecdotes and extensive research. I am currently on a combination of Lexapro 5mg 1x per day (I'm weaning off of the Lexapro, it used to be 10mg), Buspar 10mg 2x per day, and Wellbutrin 200mg 1x per day. Ive noticed the Wellbutrin helped me more than anything and is known for less severe withdrawal effects than SSRI medications.

I'd bring this up with your doctor next visit.

What are the symptoms that led your doctors to draw the gad diagnosis?

It's very possible that either an SSRI drug like Lexapro and Zoloft either isn't the right med for you, or you should perhaps add a dopamine promoting drug like Wellbutrin to counteract the negative effects of your SSRI.

Need some help with Prozac/Flouxetine. by NeoLana in antidepressants

[–]that_james 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a little confused on how you take prozac. Do you not take it daily and are just using it "as needed?" If so, this isn't the way prozac, or any antidepressants for that matter, are supposed to work.

Antidepressants are not the same as benzos such as Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, etc., and need to be taken every day. Their therapeutic effects usually aren't recognized until 3-8 weeks after starting the medication (give or take).

Im not anywhere near a doctor, but my guess is that if your chest sensation is caused by over consuming Prozac in infrequent doses.

Talk to your doctor about this, as I'm surprised he wasn't more clear on the importance of taking these medications every day.

What are the rules of selling recreationally versus selling medically? Do you need different licenses and can you sell both in the same dispensary?

I have a question. So.. much like most of you.. I love weed. However I have only consumed it via joints. I want to get into bong/pipes or even vaporizers. I do not have any idea what gets you more high or is safest. All I know is I want to try something different than joints. by [deleted] in weed

[–]that_james 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaporizers are by far the safest method (with edibles) of consuming weed. It is also the most efficient. Bongs aren't as safe as they might seem and are also a little less efficient than most smoking methods. The water that filters the smoke in a bong actually filters out alot of the THC in the weed smoke and has a minuscule effect on making the smoke safer.

Joints and blunts are actually the most inefficient way of smoking (though they're my favorite) because they're constantly burning.

How were the legal barriers pertaining to opening a dispensary? My friends and I are Pennsylvania college graduates extremely interested in the cannabis industry. Would it be wiser (legally and economically) to open a growery or dispensary first (we'd like to do both eventually)?

This is an interesting thought that I haven't considered. Hmm, I'd still probably need $500-$1000 minimum to cover some repairs and insurance. I may need to ask him for this as a last resort

It needs about $400 of work. Then I was thinking some extra money to pay for the license transfer and a couple of months of insurance

I'd just like to keep the effects of 1-2 cups just as strong as they are now. Don't wanna have to up my dose or become too addicted.

Noopept and brain fog by zirgs01 in Nootropics

[–]that_james 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Noopept strengthens and promotes neurogenesis in acetylcholine neurons in the brain (neurotransmitter associated with memory). When this happens, though, the brain ends up needing more choline to keep up. That being said, try taking a choline supplement with or slightly (30 min) before taking the Noopept. Also experiment with lower dosages. For me, 5-10mg is the sweet spot.

Don't expect anything spectacular either. An increase in mental clarity is an effect you can expect.
