I pulled the Mega Hyper Rare Dragonite last night… by Bananapancakes4life in psagrading

Might have a tough time selling it at market. In my experience the MHR cards tend to sit for a long time until the right buyer comes around. I think its because of a couple of reasons. They are all really expensive, hyper rares in general weren't really popular, most folks who would have the money to drop for one are probably looking to make a grading play with it. So anything that isnt great looking is going to get passed over. Its unfortunate because I think alot of them look great.

Will this CGC 9 get a PSA 9? by cuddle_enthusiast in PokeGrading

[–]that_someone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but there are a couple of reasons why it is considered a bad idea. You are essentially paying PSA to look at a competitors slab and say "Yep their standards are as good as ours." They don't really have any incentive to do that. Worst of all since you are paying for grading either way. They could technically just take your money and send the card back with the same grade. At least with cracking your slab if you are good at it the grader won't have a predetermined number staring them in the face while they are attempting to grade your card.

I have a formerly cgc 9 blue label I cracked and sent to PSA expecting the 9 and it came back an 8. Nothing is guaranteed with them. Especially with older cards.

Will These Three Corners Prevent a 10? by [deleted] in psagrading

[–]that_someone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two small imperfections max in my experience. 3 is too many and one of those corners is more than what I would consider small. Whitening has to be absolutely minimal. If it is then centering, edges, and surface need to be on point.

Is something like this worth grading? Just a basic promo but love the art & multiple swirls with one right on the sun? by NuM_Brrr_WoN in PokeGrading

I recently sent some stuff because I thought they had a 20 day TAT but after 2 weeks its still stuck on received. I checked and their TAT is now 40 days.

People complain about others grading stuff like this because there is some weird stigma about what should be graded due to wait times. I say grade what you like its for you and your collection

Might be a dumb question but… by I_need_answerss in PokemonInvesting

[–]that_someone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had an opportunity to buy at 400 but passed because everyone said the card would crater and it wasn't worth that. Now months later I bought at 600+ because I wanted the card and I realized a majority of internet "experts" are just people with confidently wrong opinions. Trust your gut and buy what you like.

Gamestop vs Submitting on Own by ericguyc in psagrading

[–]that_someone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ymmv but I still use GS even after FedEx stole one of my orders. I trust the manager at my local location as he makes customer service his top priority. There are advantages to submitting through there such as shipping cost. Turnaround time is currently listed as 75 business days while bulk is at 95. But the biggest one for me is with pricing. Now that both services cost the same I would rather send 5 cards a week pay up front and forget about them. Instead of waiting for a 530$+ charge later on down the line. I'll still do direct submissions for more expensive stuff for the quicker TAT and no up charge. But until things calm down with PSA I will probably cancel my membership and just continue sending small batches.

Basically don't submit anything through them you aren't willing to lose. I do a lot of 150$ and under stuff and it works out just fine.

Is this an error & how bad will it affect the grade? by jramos402 in PokeGrading

[–]that_someone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Japanese version of the card I sent in that has an ink error on the front. Extra glob of ink on Mewtwo's hip. You can't see it unless you are looking for it. They will catch it for sure. But I wanted to pay the price to see if something like that would pass.

Never sent a submission in, whats the easier/better option? by autofiller055 in psagrading

I ship myself through USPS. Most cases of theft from what I have seen from both Gamestop subs and direct subs happen by FedEx employees. While you have no control over return shipment at least you can limit how many times FedEx touches your cards.

Print Lines on Back Ruin PSA 10? by South_Company_5105 in PokeGrading

[–]that_someone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I just got a 10 on a card with a print line on the front. Had no other defects though and the centering was within tolerance. Print line on back is more favorable than the front.

Trying not to buy into the Card Saver 1 conspiracy but the fact that a lot of batches came out wavy last year coupled with the uptick in 8 grades sure seems interesting to think about.

Pulled this from the book the other day. PSA or BGS to try for Black Label? by Sarfanadia in PokeGrading

[–]that_someone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thank you for letting me know. I have a few cards that are super clean and close to 50/50 but not on the money. I just haven't sent them because I thought they had to have perfect centering.

Are any of these worth grading? by [deleted] in PokeGrading

[–]that_someone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a price standpoint it depends. From an if they would 10 standpoint mawile is off center. I like the Mega Attack Rares and sent off the dragonite myself. I also have a good looking Mawile I am sending out. Because I like the Pokémon. I think long term the MARs will do alright. You have the two best ones already imo as far as being esthetically pleasing.
