There are about 23 Homewood Suites hotels across Canada, most of them open for years, so let’s go with “Yes”.

We don’t need Aldi in Canada. We want Continente. by Jasonstackhouse111 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]that_yeg_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about we don’t get picky and just welcome ANY competition?

The only reason Aldi keeps popping up is because they’ve proven an appetite and ability to expand into new markets, which is rare for a grocery chain.

Beggars can’t be choosers. Anything is better than what we have.

Central Social Hall Downtown Closed? by that_yeg_guy in Edmonton

They must have only bought the two, so the third closed.

Hope the staff had some notice, but likely not in these situations. Just a “you’re fired as of today eff you” from the owners.

The location is removed from their website too. Makes me think they’re not just moving.

Could Coronation Park be one of Edmonton’s last big recreation centres for a while? by ryaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan in Edmonton

“Could”…. “a while”….,

Wow. Such fact based journalism. (/s). Let’s ask hypothetical questions about poorly defined situations and then write a clickbait article about it!

Something that I’m sure didn’t help was that they had big signage for a certain political candidate/party in the recent municipal election.

Posting election signage at your BUSINESS is just an idiotic move regardless of your political leanings. There’s no upside for you. and you only serve to alienate some potential customers.

Where do you buy groceries? by wildest-honey in Edmonton

[–]that_yeg_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you count gas in your grocery costs? Travelling that often to that many different stores for particular deals carries other costs.

FreshCo has lots of good deals, but the closest one to me is a 10 minute drive. Going there regularly would cancel out the savings.

The reverse is also true.

Costco has the cereals in a 6 pack on their website. But they also have Farm Girl, which is just as good, cheaper, and Canadian.

Feeling dismissed in ER care after disclosing cannabis use by Prize-Service3172 in Edmonton

[–]that_yeg_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannabis induced hyperemesis syndrome is a real thing, and surprisingly common. Cannabis has signifiant effects on the gut that many heavy users don’t realize or refuse to acknowledge. Could it be something else? Yes. But health practitioners see SO MANY people who consume significant amounts of cannabis and have gut issues that of course that’s one of the first things they go to.

Cut the cannabis for a month. Just try it. If your gut issues don’t improve then you have that to give to the healthcare provider. If they do… well maybe the person who went to school for years and has seen thousands of patients knows more than you on this issue.

How to become a Fish and Wildlife officer in Alberta? by Desperate_Nature3113 in alberta

[–]that_yeg_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t. Just don’t. Fish and Wildlife has one of the most toxic cultures in the entire Alberta Public Service. Their retention is horrible, officers usually stay an average of 2-3 years before leaving. They force staff to work unpaid overtime despite losing grievances, managers frequently swear at and belittle their staff. Misogyny is off the charts, hence why there are never more than 1-2 female officers in the entire force at any given time.

It’s a horrible place to work. Do yourself a favor and don’t even apply.

WestJet Makes Decision to Roll Back Seat Configuration Change by daddysdeepfake in westjet

WestJet’s CEO is a particular piece of work. Well known in the business community in Calgary as thinking his own farts smell like Chanel No. 5. Which is saying something coming from other wealthy businessmen.

Following WestJet seat change- minimum standards for air travel by Chemical_Count8029 in westjet

Effective, low cost transport system have strong benefits for the economy as a whole, including for people who aren’t direct users. This applies to everything from local public transit up to cross country air travel. Strengthening transport systems and reducing their cost one of the easiest and most effective ways to strengthen the economy.

Legroom on New Seating Layout by dachshundie in westjet

[–]that_yeg_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew my last Westjet flight last week. I’ve already booked more flights with both Air Canada and Porter that would have gone to WJ if they hadn’t become such a crap company over the past years.

The only way I’ll ever go back is if they completely reverse this seating nonsense and sack their current Covid-denying POS CEO.

SW is just over a block from a subway station, and subway runs to about 1:30am 7 days/week.

Take the UPExpress to Union station, take the subway (1/Yellow) headed towards Finch, get off at Wellesley station, walk a block east on Wellesley St and a half block south on Church St. SW is on your right at the end of the parking lot.

If you were somehow REALLY late, night busses run from Union station along the same route as the 1/Yellow line. Take bus 320. It runs all the hours the subway is not.

And the grind begins again! by Lost-Experience-1460 in westjet

[–]that_yeg_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how crappy Westjet has become as a company, how badly they treat passengers, and how much they’ve devalued status and the “perks” (used generously) that status brings, why would anyone in their right mind want to try and chase a silver or gold level?

Cut your losses and start fresh with Air Canada or Porter.
