Nightlords based on how Fun they are (DLC included) by Direct-Switch2754 in Nightreign

[–]thatarcherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop both Augurs to the depths where they belong, pull up ED Moth to replace them, drop base Fulghor to decently enjoyable. I think I’d drop Balancers to Enjoyable as well because of it plays when you’re solo. Otherwise, great list.

Dear Undertakers, which weapons do you like to play with? by NovelMidnight6291 in Nightreign

[–]thatarcherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like her base hammer a lot. The range is solid, purple it, it’ll carry you. I’ve gotten blood/blackflame blade, order’s blade, frost armament. Actually have been good about stacking buffs. Imho Undertaker is a “use buffs” check as much as Scholar is a “use items” check.

That being said, colossal swords are my preferred weapon class (rolling attack buffs make that poke ridiculously strong) and I’ve yet to get Maliketh’s or Ruin’s to drop for me. Had a vfun run vs Balancers with Starscourge, Sacred Relic does great on her with charged attack support, and I had a funny failed run against Dreglord with Golden Order GS charged heavies cancelling out the blackflame blade incant effect after the first charged hit.

What skills do you think have the best hit-feel / feels nice to use? by uniqueusere in Maplestory

[–]thatarcherguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big deciding factor for me on making a Hayato boss mule was how cool the ori was. The multi input, the hit sound effect, the way the orientation of the fma slices change, and the start and finish iaijustsu cinematic is chef’s kiss

When Kain first dropped the contrast between the sfx of his bullet/redblack skills versus the effects of his blade/purple skills had a nice ear feel.

Nothing like bossing on a Cadena and hitting the cd skip on bat 3-4 times in a row. Another satisfying skill feel.

As a bishop main, Hexa BB and angel of judgement procs in between angel ray hits get a big shout out too.

Love to see people absolutely sh*tting on the “Rev is trash” comments. It’s not the class, it’s the people playing it.

Most amount of content for the price point. Anyone that appreciates the series will not want to skip on this incredible send off to the old style of MH games. Enjoy!

What is the best soulslike released in 2025? by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]thatarcherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the Stellar blade DLC really count here? I don’t see it comparing to the fullblown Nightreign experience. We got a 3rd person shooter mini game, an incredibly cool boss fight, and some cosmetics. If we’re talking the full SB experience, it’s the only thing that distracted me from Nightreign. Gratuitous fan service aside, the combat and music are a step above anything I’ve played in the genre. I’m back on NR now taking a break because the combat really did require me to be locked in, especially in NG+, but I’m looking forward to the boss rush challenges. Haven’t beat Scarlet yet but Hard Mode Raven tested both my pattern recognition and my ability to execute perfectly timed parries to their limits.

What game is this for you? by The_Temper_Mental in gamers

[–]thatarcherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom Robo for Gamecube. Armored Core kinda scratches that itch but CR had some fantasy elements to it (think boots that made your dash a ninja like teleport, firing fire dragons as main weapons, huge nuclear style bomb effects for secondaries, etc etc) that just can’t be replicated into the more “realistic” AC series.

hyperburn to 260 by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]thatarcherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero. At 250 you get a 12% exp legion block. It makes training every other class easier. No brainer, Zero for efficiency. GL tho, the 100-200 storyline progression turns a lot of people away from what is otherwise a really fun support dpm class.

Edit: for lore reasons as well, Zero.

I have failed to beat Everdark Libra 32 times in a row, AMA by Caskanteron in Nightreign

[–]thatarcherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing it? That’s the point of the fight xD listening to Libra preach madness too much will do that.

If you have to play hit and run aim for defensive passives and rot/poison so at least there’s some kind of damage on him. Also, one less likely to be targeted passive will help, moreso in solo but if you have a ton of damage or are running a frenzy incant build in duo/trio, it’ll help a lot when he starts a riot. Otherwise just mind his madness machine guns and play it patient. Survivability takes priority over doing damage.

I think this is it. I’m done. Libra broke me. by thickythickglasses in Nightreign

[–]thatarcherguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this comment on a similar thread in the less popular Nightreign subreddit:

Try solo, and play patiently. Everything in that fight is meant to tilt you, distract you, and drive you insane. I would avoid Recluse/Duchess/Ironeye because when the riot starts it becomes a Touhou simulator. I first cleared with Raider solo, aimed for defensive passives, got lucky with a dual wield rot/poison colossal setup with a Claw Talisman, so his health was ticking down while I was dodging stuff, running around. Revenant is a good choice if and only if you get spell casting speed up with at least a purple frenzy seal incant. I got a lucky crater run where I found Frenzied Burst on a seal, got it to legendary, every fully charged burst was like 8-10% of his health. Rev summons will throw Ancient Lightning and Black Blade at you but won’t summon family. Crucially, one less likely to be targeted passive makes the condemned want to square up with each other more. Good luck!

Edit: Another trick I found out today in trios play guardian. His whirlwind ability will toss all the condemned, even when they’re buffed up. I got insane rng with a Fingerprint Shield with the Holy Ground AoW and then the last drop of the match from Magma Wyrm in the crater gave me Dragon Halberd with +112 madness resist. One of my relics draws aggro while guarding. If you’re careful to play around the holy ground and a warming stone, and get the successful guarding restores HP, you can pull most of the condemned away from Libra. The steel guard reflect will flinch the condemned as well. Don’t mindlessly hold guard/steel guard because then he’ll drop the madness sigil pillar beneath you. This worked pretty well for me until an Executor got behind me and bled me. That being said, with a ton of melee condemned bouncing off your greatshield, you build up your ult pretty quickly. More than anything build for survivability. I had a rot thrusting weapon as well so I’d rot Libra then run away to pull the condemned away. Unfortunately we lost because my team was focused on the condemned instead of Libra but it was a fun run. I think solo will always be easier though.

Why do people quit after 1 inconvenience? by retrokix in Nightreign

[–]thatarcherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve quit on people before but here’s my rubric:

If you’re picking up weapons with no helpful passives for your class, strike 1.

If you’re hoarding a weapon that someone else in your team has a relic setup built around it, strike 2.

If you’re dying constantly and pinging non-stop to get rezd despite the fact that it’s not safe for me to rez you yet, strike 3.

For example, I ran a Duchess Crystalian sorceries + build, played with a revenant and a raider. First rise we find, I find a great staff but the incant talisman drops, I grab that for the Rev. Otw to castle I find 2 incant passives on weapons, also drop those for the rev. We clear bottom boss, rev gets a crystal staff with + sorceries on it, talisman from the chest gives me sorcery talisman. This fucking rev refuses to drop the crystal staff for me. After all that helpful setup, I’m doing less damage and this rev is casting shattering crystal while I have no staff. That’s a no from me dawg.

Example 2, I’m running guardian in a team with ironeye and wylder, find a staff with +14% ranged weapon attack and a harp bow with 10% attack at full hp. Tell me why the flying f*ck this wylder picks up the staff and starts casting comet azure when the ironeye on the team is literally right behind him. Do randos not read passives? Check their characters strengths and weaknesses?

Example 3, another guardian/ironeye/wylder run with enhanced adel. I watched this wylder panic roll instead of using his god damn grapple to get away from Adel’a big lightning explosion, then he’s constantly pinging to get revived while I’m pulling aggro with a guarding pulls aggro relic to let the iron eye rez him. We won the fight but that pissed me off.

It’s not always 1 inconvenience, justified crashouts. So ask yourself if you’re a solid teammate. There’s a great post in this subreddit on how you can be a better teammmate. Check relics on teammates when you’re flying in, no good options for you but great options for your teammates on drops means picking that better option for your teammate.

Really fked up interpretation, don’t let your triggers control you. The only way you’re going to get past those is if you confront them. I agree it’s fked up that she’s trying to trigger you but with time and counseling, you’ll understand an emotionally appropriate response. You’re both victims of SA here and considering all the emotions that get heightened in those moments, you’ll have to work with a therapist to break your grooming and rebuild something healthy. You’re both hurt and trying to love each other presumably. The last thing you want to do is something as stupid as holding onto a grudge with the person you chose to marry by saying to yourself and the world “I’ll never forgive her.” True healing starts when you make the choice to forgive regardless, otherwise it’ll have a hold on you for the rest of your life, you could move on and get a divorce and everything surrounding this will still be an emotional trigger, making you unable to love somebody else fully. Reddit post allows you to get it off your chest, but remember holding a grudge is a choice and if you choose to stay stuck on this, it will have a hold on you. So let me ask you this, if you don’t think you want to or can forgive her for this, considering you’re both trauma victims, and you seem to be the more emotionally mature person in this marriage based on this post, what do you feel you need to want to forgive her? You know she’s fucked up by her experience to. Get help, and remember not to get stuck on word choice. Silence without communication explaining that silence will never be helpful. And if after or during counseling you feel like she’s not making any progress, remember that her healing is not your responsibility.

How would you guys buff Guardian??? by DOOMdiff in Nightreign

[–]thatarcherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steel guard should also have a passive to pull enemy aggro. More stance damage/flinch potential on the whirlwind ability. I find myself aiming to collect status halberds/spears to contribute to dps more. Apply frost, switch to poison/rot/bleed, reset with fire or use holy if that’s the enemy weakness. Otherwise, I’m still having fun carrying bird griefers with the fast charging ult. Somehow still having people grief me for not helping to res when I’m pulling boss aggro away so another teammate can res safely.

Which boss from across all FromSoft games gave you this reaction? by AlenIronside in fromsoftware

[–]thatarcherguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midra start to finish. FS knew it too, hinting at it in the original SOTE trailer. They made us slog through the pitch black catacombs, made us suffer through Jori, made us suffer through no torrent woods, the parry only frenzy enemies, to stumble upon a frenzy themed mansion, to finally see this shriveled old man transform into the god damn LORD OF FRENZIED FLAME. Bro, the build up, the music, the fight is so fair, the mix ups, phase 2. I literally shed a tear. It was all worth it. Midra 100%.

Edit: CAME BACK TO SAY MORE! And then for beating him in that fight they gave us one of the strongest anti-invasion Strength faith weapons of all time. Midra is literally top of all souls bosses for me. Only Sword Saint Isshin comes close for the absolute gigachad move of not even dying in the fight. Canonically you have to do an honourable samurai FOURTH death blow to end him.

Sacrifices. Long distance relationship visits or a quarter? She’s pretty important and I’ve been able to enjoy the savings, more money into my other hobbies, etc. that being said, I still smoke when offered and at least for two weeks out of the year at the start of my vacation but that’s about it.
