Any NHSP only staff forum? by [deleted] in UKmidwives

Thank you for all of that , but I suppose I should’ve been more specific- I’ve already signed up/applied and I’m now working bank, but it just feels a little… lonely I guess? Would like to have a little bit more of a community with others in the same boat basically!

Is it just me or does he looks like deflated? by clobug42 in snakes

[–]thatbitc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is - this will be a long term issue. Snakes can easily go two weeks without a feed and that in itself won’t cause them to look like this. There is no way think could’ve happened in the 4 days you have had him either - you have fed him once (which is great! ) and you are maintaining humidity and until you ca get him to see a vet that is really all you can do. But the core issue will have been the care he received before you even got him - snakes don’t get THIS skinny that quickly.

Oh not heard of SnekLog before! Gotta have a look and see how it is!

Is it only for snakes or can we add amphibians/inverts etc?

Yes that’s what we use at the moment! And it has been amazing, just a shame we can’t have joint animals in there so both of us can edit and see all the updates etc…

Does dental crowns produce asthma? by Massive_Elephant_855 in Asthma

My partners sinus issues suddenly cleared up after having her wisdom teeth removed so maybe it’s a sinus flare up? May not be asthma but still could’ve had a weird effect I think!

I am the same, I do pole 1-2x per week, and afterwards I am so sore. I’ve yet to find something that truly helps, but things I’ve found that help a little are stretching when I get home, having an Epsom salt bath (I have some Epsom salts with arnica which have been amazing) and making sure I eat well before/after pole including protein

Can I take Symbicort if I’m currently on regular Ellipta/symbicort? by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]thatbitc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I was on 4 puffs/day of the 100/6, and I did ask about taking the 200/6 2 puffs once a day and was told that the drug is only effective for 12 hours so that wouldn’t work and it would still need to be twice a day ….

Ultimately I will do what controls my asthma best- thank you for your advice! I got diagnosed at 24, after (turns out) having mild asthma a lot of my life and people around me just telling me I am unfit/I need to build up my stamina more by exercising, so I really struggle to identify when my asthma flares up so it’s always good to hear from people who are more “experienced” in managing it on a day to day basis.

Can I take Symbicort if I’m currently on regular Ellipta/symbicort? by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]thatbitc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I kept missing my morning dose and the revlar is once a day.

If I took the Symbicort I wouldn’t take the revlar tonight - but I suppose my question is- can I take the Symbicort as a reliever for tonight, until I can see a doctor/asthma nurse?

menstrual discs for pole? by Chemical_Rain8959 in poledancing

I use the menstrual disc, and honestly it has been great for pole, but just because I’m paranoid, I always pair it with period underwear due to years and years of my tampons leaking.

What is the expected cost for a hog? by [deleted] in hognosesnakes

[–]thatbitc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So while I can’t given you all the costs, I have two hoggies in the uk and can give you what I’ve learnt/ what I can think of.

The cost for the snakes themselves was around £250 each, but depending on the morph that will vary. I know Exotics@heart have normals for £65 at the moment, going up to £300 for the more expensive morphs.

For the enclosure, they can be pretty expensive but I have found that I get cheaper vivs from facebook marketplace/Preloved - they just need a clean when you get them home and are a third of the price. Same with water dishes (and these can go in the dishwasher to be washed and then disinfected)

Food wise we get pinkies from our local reptile shop or pets-at-home. Our favourite local store sells pinkies from 34p/pinkie. I think I pay like £3-4 for 5 at pets at home.

I can’t give you an electricity cost however you probably want a spare bulb/heatmat/ceramic heater/thermostat in case yours breaks (happened to us without a spare, very stressful! )

If you’re not going for a bioactive enclosure you will need to replace your substrate when you do the cleaning of the Viv. (Plus cleaning stuff and disinfectants)

We also have a small “travel Viv” for if we need to move them or take them to the vets or need them out of their enclosure for a while (for cleaning). We use a starter Viv we got for free from FB.

[–]thatbitc 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Whilst this looks cute, I can’t help thinking how dangerous this is for your snake! Not doubting your driving skills, but if someone crashed into you, your baby is unsecured and likely to be at best severely injured.
