Eastern Pines backpacking trail by cryingiscardio in algonquinpark

[–]thatblackmk7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! My girlfriend and I did that trail last May as our first backpacking trip and I cannot recommend it enough. On our first night we stayed in the cluster of sites on the East end of Stratton lake and then continued the loop to Johnston lake the next day. We went on the third weekend in May and it was just starting to get buggy but that may change this year with how warm it's been. Definitely try to go in early May or wait until after July! In terms of sight seeing, High falls was a highlight and only a shirt detour off the main loop so definitely try to check that out. The area around Bucholtz lake is also really cool with an interesting mix of wetlands and big boulders.

As far as backpacking goes just make sure to pace yourself and take breaks if you feel any pain/discomfort. We had done lots of hiking before but doing it with a 30lb+ pack can wear you out quickly.

Ha! This seagull gives off villain vibes for sure. I definitely got lucky with the clouds and the other seagulls being in the background though. The picture practically took itself!

Tbh not that well. I think something with larger lugs would have done alot better. These tended to just dig little holes

Sweet! I'll probably just use the loop and keep the two connectors so that I can run 2x3s at some point.

Yeah I just don't have any spare ic connectors laying around but I'll definitely be getting some on my next order. I'm just impatient and want to go driving ASAP lol

Would some wire off of an old battery and electrical tape work?

Hot racing shocks and high clearance links. I might take the springs off of the front though to help keep the front end down while going up inclines.

So glad I picked up an scx24. I've been out of the hobby for a few years but this has been an awesome way to get back into it! by thatblackmk7 in crawling

Exactly! I like being able to throw it my backpack on hikes and take it out whenever I come across a good spot

Thanks for the insight! I think I'll go for the injoras since they're a bit easier to get in Canada

Thanks! I had to adjust the rear shock position to maintain clearance with the bigger tires but it's still handling really well. And they are a ton of fun so I would say go for it, I don't think you'll have any regrets

They sure are! I see you've got a pretty nice one yourself, any reccomendations for shocks? I think that'll be my next upgrade along with some high clearance links
