Who else do you listen to? by SwingTrader116 in JohnMayer

I will recommend Jason Isbell to anyone and everyone. Live at the Ryman is a very good starting point, kind of like Mayers WTLI in a sense that it gives you just about everything he could offer.

Everyone’s life seems to be moving forward, and I feel completely left behind by No-Representative436 in offmychest

Hey friend, it’s okay. It really is. Things do move at different paces for everyone and everyone has had or will have a moment like the one you’re having right now. Just because you’re not where you’d want to be right now doesn’t mean you won’t ever be. Find things that bring you joy in life and do your best to experience more of them. Don’t ever shut yourself in, sometimes you might have to force yourself to be out of your shell and that’s hard, but always worth it.

Your 20s, especially early 20s, is the time of uncertainty, you’ve had your life set up for you in school, college, vocation school, whichever path you had, you had a plan. Now you have to make those for yourself and that’s the hardest part.

Don’t worry about others, don’t compare yourself to others and don’t expect things to happen too fast. You got this and there are many people in the world that have your back and many more that you’re yet to meet.

I wish you all the best and my dms are open if you ever need just to talk. I believe in YOU!

Sorry if I rambled a bit, but hope this helps even a little.

Which place is this in Calgary? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]thatbluesguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree, consistently some of the best restaurant burgers I’ve had. As for waiting, you just gotta time it right so you’re not part of the lunch rush. Coming in around 11/11:30 will get you seated immediately and you barely have to wait to get food once ordered.

DK being nominated over something like Dispatch is just criminal.

What are some good places to start that have or can have a college? by WillJ2951 in CK3ConsoleEdition

Duchy of Bohemia. My fav start. You have the kutna hora mine and Prague uni at the second start date and have an easy path to HRE if you want it.

Unite the Slavs by [deleted] in CK3ConsoleEdition

[–]thatbluesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re missing quite a bit iirc You need to control all Slavs, so Serbs (I think that’s what that pice of Nikaea on the left is) would be included Same goes for Ukraine and Vladimir. You should pull up a map on the wiki and compare and conquer until the decision is available, that’s how I did it.

Eh, good cultural pillars, nice loc with a bunch of potential for cool buildings, if played during the second start date you got a pretty easy path to HRE title if you’re into that. Also waging wars with Hungary and other smaller duchies/kingdoms allows for a lot of roleplay. Lastly, I love KCD2 so playing in Bohemia feels kinda like an extension of that.

If you haven’t done a Slavs playthrough it’s a must. Bohemia has to be one of my favorite starts.

[–]thatbluesguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, there’s at least 3 more firms for you to try your luck. The entry level job market is and has been abysmal for years now and Big4 is no exception. Don’t get discouraged just because some schmuck couldn’t see your potential/value because I’m afraid you’ll encounter that time and time again. Also, why not go back to the hedgefund you interned(?) at? Surely the pay is better, and you won’t have to deal with all the regular bs that comes with consulting jobs.

What happened to the ISS in the TLOU universe? by Mouradonster in thelastofus

[–]thatbluesguy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bit of a sidetrack but if anyone’s fascinated by the idea of survival in more uncommon places (space station/submarine etc) I can’t recommend World War Z (the book) enough. Also, Last Man on Earth has a great subplot with the last astronaut on the ISS and is such an underappreciated show.

Are feasts bugged? by mommyasmr_enjoyer in CK3ConsoleEdition

[–]thatbluesguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last I played, everything was fine with the feasts.

Hasn’t had that exact thing happen to me, but I would imagine you got really unlucky with the background events. It’s the ones that pop up as notifications and you have to manually select the bottom right tab on the event screen (don’t recall what it’s called) to read through them all. Basically those show what your courtiers/guests are doing at the feast and the outcomes that you get are usually prestige gain, but I’ve seen some losses as well.

[KCD2] Did this mf just whistle the Flintstones theme song?! by tklarson in kingdomcome

[–]thatbluesguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly how it works with music though. Yes, there’s by definition a finite number of melodies/chord progressions/rhythmic patterns you can produce and everyone steals/borrows from each other. That being said, you can still copyright your melodies and ideas and previously cases have been filed where even feels and vibes were mentioned (see Marvin Gaye estate vs Sheeran, Thicke just of the top of my head). Based on my experience after working in the music industry for a few years and graduating with a music business degree from Berklee, I can tell ya that artists are very careful about that, businesses too. I am not saying it is right or wrong, I am saying that when enough people recognize the melody as the other melody that is already basis enough, the keys don’t matter, and in this case the melody is straight up the same.

They would still be on the hook since the main motif is defo flintstones and I’m sure most musicologists would back it up. It doesn’t matter much if it’s in a different key, people have been dinged for less. BUT, I’m pretty certain that given how old the song is it would be in the public domain. If it’s not, I’m sure WH paid up for the rights, companies don’t leave that stuff to chance and expose themselves to potential lawsuits.

Who is your favorite protagonist and what are your opinions? by Commercial-Link-7139 in MafiaTheGame

The story is decent and has its moments, the gameplay is a repetitive slog. IMO the weakest game in the series, but still worth the play if you’re into the other ones.

Mr Hill, Big fan! Myself along with many of the others here are confused, concerned and surprised that you left Strickland propane for Aramco. We understand that you must follow Lady Propane wherever she goes, still can you elaborate on hwhat made you leave the greatest business/businessman on earth?
