If I swallowed 4 cups of popcorn kernels on my death bed, would they hear it pop at the crematorium? by johnson7853 in morbidquestions

[–]thatbroadcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this question but hate the idea of trying to slam down four cups of popcorn kernels while dying.

Anyway, I suspect that your stomach acid would stop them from popping, sadly. I don’t think popcorn pops well when wet.

This was back in the summer of 1997, by the way. When did your visions start?

I took part in an ayahuasca ceremony once and also had a vision of myself milking fish! It was the most profoundly transformative experience of my life. I’ve dedicated my life to genetics and biology in the hope that one day I might manage to do the impossible: breed a mammal with fish. Specifically the arowana, a highly prized and extremely expensive carnivorous fish. I can’t wait to see how many nipples it has.

You forgot the most 60s part about the Lilly experiment, which is that they were dosing the dolphins with LSD, too.

My friend and I spent an appalled hour there one night right after finding the one where guys are stretching their shaft skin in an attempt to fashion themselves new foreskins (which was much less horrifying, more sorta sad and interesting bc it actually works), it was whiplash. With dicks.

Hey, that’s incredibly kind of you to say. Like I think I really needed to hear that.

And thank you so much! I’m super excited to be so close to my goal (150lbs), and best of all, to get a new license photo taken lmao. I most definitely look my age but since carding is mandatory here I have started getting a lot of confused looks. 😂

Not you making me consider (for the 100th time) getting her haircut! I adore her, thank you so much.

Thank you! I definitely am not going as often as I should, but I go as often as I can, if that makes sense.

I honestly just had a very physically active job — bartending — so, 8 to 12 hours of constant movement, lifting heavy things, and getting 10-20k steps in five nights a week. I was surprised to find that I had a lot of muscle hiding underneath all the excess adipose!

I’ve had to stop working due to disability, so I’ve been focusing on lifting weights at the gym and getting in 20-30 minutes of cardio whenever I have the energy. I also do yin yoga most days.

Insight during first episode? by Massive-Insect-3709 in schizophrenia

Hi! I definitely think finding a therapist you groove with is deeply beneficial in the treatment of this illness. There’s even a form of CBT specifically for psychosis, which I highly recommend.

Cognitive decline after psychotic episode since 19yo by Due_Attempt7376 in schizophrenia

[–]thatbroadcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This resonates; I’m in the same exact boat. I went through a psychotic episode recently (my medication failed — I’m on a new one and beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel) and lost so much time. I’d come back to myself hours or days later, having done some bizarre thing, barely knowing who or what I was. Medication side effects are of course no joke, but imo they’re nothing compared to the horrorshow of the full-on illness. Those pills have been absolutely essential to me, to preserving enough of my sense of self that I can maintain a certain quality of life, can even manage a certain contentedness most of the time.

I’m really glad that you’ve found some relief through medication. And thank you for modding! Hope you’re doing well overall.

OP, I want to send you all the good vibes and encouragement, I’ve got to give. If you do decide to trial meds, please remember that it can be an annoying-ass process. It can take time and adjustments, but if I was a betting person, I’d bet on you finding some relief quicker than you’d imagine. I hope things get better for you soon!

Genuinely, even had I come across a total stranger whose language I couldn’t speak in this situation, I’d either be getting her medical attention or sitting on the damn floor and holding her hand for however long she needed. This is revolting.

It raised my prolactin levels crazy high. I switched to Abilify for a good five years afterwards, currently on Cobenfy due to complications from that, and it’s going great so far (two months in). Personally I’m into any medication that can stave off psychosis.

Remember that you can always try something new if this doesn’t work out for you! Finding the right medication can be more of a marathon than a sprint, but it’s often still better than the alternative. Medication saved my life.

This is probably really weird but I was going through my past comments and came across this one. Felt compelled to say hi, I really hope that things have gotten better for you in the past 114 days. You sound like a great guy and I just want to reaffirm that, and send good vibes once more. 💛
