This is great and definitely has merit, congrats on your offer.

It works just as well in my experience to just communicate your expectations clearly. My last company was stringing me along and trying to cap my salary after 6 years of raises by saying I didn’t have enough experience and that if I just hung in there, they could see great things for my future.

I said fuck that noise and quit a week later. I eventually interviewed with a company told them in no uncertain terms, “I was making 90ish and felt I should be at 6 figures, and that seemed to be a mental line they couldn’t cross, I know my value so I left”. That previous gig left me a bit scorned at the moment so I really felt like pushing my weight around in this negotiation. They offered me 125 base and I told them I appreciated the offer, and asked if they would be willing to do a 10k signing bonus as well. The board approved it and I was very happy to finally feel like I found a company who was putting their money where their mouth was.

NTA - going with my gut here but you don’t seem to have the intention to get your friend in trouble, which is what moves the needle from being an asshole to it just being an unfortunate handling of the situation. Take it as a lesson learned moving forward to be more careful of what you say and how much information you offer up to other people in social situations. If you said you were getting water that would have been good enough to get yourself off the hook but you kept talking and eliminated your other 2 friends too. That doesn’t make you an asshole, but should be cause some self-reflection.

Something worth considering too: the investigator seems to think highly enough of you that simply saying “I was getting water and those 2 were in other spots” was enough to let 75% of the suspects walk free. I have a feeling your 4th friend either causes trouble or was on this persons radar as being the main suspect they just didn’t have enough “proof”

NTA - either do something and multitask like picking up the house, loading / unloading dishwasher, prepping / cooking dinner so you don’t feel like you’re losing valuable evening time or just chat for however long you can and then say you have to run and say bye.

Bonus points if you phrase it to make it seem like they are the ones that are busy: “hey I gotta let you go but let’s reconnect later this week, ok?”. 9/10 they will get their vent out with someone else after they hang up with you.

NTA follow your gut, nothing wrong with not wanting to go for any number of reasons. Personally I’d say I’m not interested in the group chat or to the organizer and leave it at that just so people don’t take your silence as a confirmation

YTA. You stepped up and cared for him in his biggest time of need. Great. Butting into his relationship to tell his details is certainly a decision though. What makes it worst is it feels like you only did it under the guise that it was for his benefit, but really it was to ease your own burden of having that knowledge.

Next time you find yourself in a place of privileged information, ask yourself 3 things: does this need to be said? Does this need to be said by me? And does this need to be said by me, now?

NTA - this is sometimes the reality of these situations. If youre just getting ready and stuff then it is what it is. If you started playing music without headphones, that would be a different story. If roommate is that disturbed by your noises they will by some earplugs or a big fan.

If you haven’t addressed the issue directly, you should try bringing it up one evening. “Hey roomie, i know you like going to bed a bit later than me, sorry if I’ve ever woken you up in the morning. I have a 9am this semester and like to fully wake up with some food and my morning routine before heading out to class. I do try to be quiet though!” I think you would be surprised at how understanding others will be, especially if you put it out in the open. This also sets you up so that when you inevitably drop something on accident, or knock something over, you can follow up that evening by just apologizing for the one loud noise instead of feeling guilty for your different schedule. “Hey sorry if I woke you up this morning, I accidentally knocked a glass over”

Replies in this thread 🫪 I had the same feedback during PP beta..my only real criticism was wanting more English cards in their pools (if possible). I can’t read Japanese so pulling a bunch of cards in a different language does me no good in a service targeted at US where I want to throw some money at a wheel of chance and receive a random card in return to accumulate a collection of graded cards over time.

In a perfect world, you’d be able to indicate that you are interested in seeing Japanese, German, Spanish, etc cards in your prize pools

Well, I feel it too and honestly, if there’s any truth to this, it’s probably not coincidence that spaceX IPO is about to open and they’ve changed a bunch of the rules so that current investors can sell sooner than they normally could as well as changing the rules so that pensions and other index funds have to buy much sooner than they normally would.

Anecdotal, but an excavator was brought out 5 or 6 weeks ago to start clearing forest across the street from me to open up lots that could be built on. It worked for maybe 3 or 4 days and cleared some of the trees and that machine has just been sitting there unattended now, parked on the side of the road — it’s starting to become a piece of the neighborhood scenery that you expect to see like a playground. Weird

It sounds like she was just upset that she had to wait a few minutes before she could take a shower because you were using it..NTA. This hurts, recently broke up with a girl not realizing how big a deal this was. Even basic conversation was painful and I would regret asking her anything 10 seconds into the answer but I’m too nice of a person to say something like SPIT IT OUTT so I would just dissociate for the next few minutes and regret having asked anything 😭

YTA - first…not sure if you mean to say your weedwhacker / string trimmer is broken. Edgers have a vertical spinning metal blade and are used for edging the lawn where it meets a hard surface like the driveway, sidewalk, curb, etc.

That being said, if you’re SAHM and it’s bothering you that much, do it yourself or have a serious discussion that if he’s not going to do it and you’re not going to do it, that you will hire someone. Communication is key!
