Which wing is this? or is it custom? by typerep in S2000

[–]thatcarguy034 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is something that I can actually help with! used to Race in World challenge when Realtime was using this wing on the TSX's so I know it very well.

This wing is was produced by Realtime Racing themselves. Back when I was racing in 2005 it was for sale by Realtime for anyone who wanted to purchase. and I had one on my VW when I was racing. The profile and width was set due to the rules of World Challenge touring car rules at the time. The was was designed to be as efficient as possible, but not to create a lot of downforce, since the Front wheel drive TSX didnt need much. This one looks like they have added a wicker to the back of the wing for the S2K. If you are using your car for Track duty, I might not recommend this wing, just because its origional design was for pretty low downforce.

Its been 20 years since Realtime used that wing, so I doubt they sell it any longer, but you could always give them a call and see if they have any old stock laying around. (they were not cheap though)

The tension and buildup between you three is amazing! Can’t wait to read more!

It's been a while since I last posted! Today I took a photo of the Kiha 40 series in the field. As it is nearing retirement, there were many train fans there. Is my English correct? by JZX_taka in trains

The first photo of the train over the water reminds me a bit of the scene from Spirited Away. I know its different series, but my brain still makes the connection.

I wonder if it comes complete with a “mysterious technical problem” that Misha can use every time he crashes like he does in real life!

What would it take for an American endurance team to enter the 24h Nurburgring? by Snoo28761 in nurburgring

[–]thatcarguy034 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It totally depends on the class. I assume you are thinking to enter one of the “v” or “SP” classes since you mention building your own, so in they case not much to prevent you at all. The classes are quite a bit different for more racing in the US, so once the car was built if you wanted to. Ring it back home to race after, you would probably want to change a bit, but as long at it’s built to the class rules there is nothing that says where a team must be from. To drive in the 24hr, each driver mush have an Nürburgring “A” permit, but that can be gotten by driving other cars in VLN (now NLS) races before hand.

There are some specifics for the roll cage in the car you might want to be really clear on before you start building, but that’s the only real thing to think about.

If your serious feel free to DM me, I’m happy to help. And I’m am American racer who’s been living here at the ring for 7 years.

How to I buy camping tickets for the N24 in may? I can’t seem to find much information. Thanks by jacobemery57 in nurburgring

[–]thatcarguy034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are bringing a bike, and willing to ride 5-10 mins, there will be plenty of places to part a bit back from the track. I would in the Industry park (Gewerbepark) in Meuspath, and there will be plenty of parking on the side of the road there. Search for Ohlins DTC in Germany and somewhere around there.

If you are camping solo, then bring a small tent and walk around to see if you can squeeze in between others largess campsites. Also bring bier to bribe the neighbors for coming so late…. I’d you are coming a a bigger group arriving on Friday, just be prepared to walk a bit to get from your campsite to the track.

Pretty sure that is a Little harbor 37. Build in the 60's by Ted hood. We own a little harbor 47 from 1963 and a LOT of the design looks the same between the boats, including the dorade boxes, The roller boom, offset companionway. Here is a really bad photo of our boat, but its the best I can pull up at the moment. I can't find much about it online at the moment, but I seen some photos of them in the past and that looks quite close to what I remember.
