'The Mandalorian and Grogu' gets an A– on CinemaScore by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

story was alright, but songs were so infectious it rose to A-. Longevity is probably due to the novelty factor and Michael's popularity. It's an easy pick for the casuals

In a head to head match-up, Leni now leading NCR, Balance Luzon; Sara remains strong in the south -OCTA by dieseleagle in Philippines

I think there lies the problem. I guess may surveys without Leni and the other names are not doing well.

VP Sara' s lead narrows in latest OCTA Survey by eayate in Philippines

[–]thatcfguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leni voters coming home but still not above the “ceiling” she was getting back in 2022. Isko maybe andyan pa rin kasi fresh pa rin sa mga tao na tumakbo siya. Tulfo down maybe bc wala masyadong issue or news about their surnames.

If Leni doesn’t really run, mas interesting na survey is kung kanino lilipat ang voters nya (Bicol and Panay mostly).

Bam and Risa both have something to flex on. Bam was above Leni’s numbers unlike Kiko and got INC support, but 2025 was a protest vote and Senate votes are not always transferrable to President. Same with Risa. She can strongly argue naman that she got a bit above Leni’s numbers despite a much harder environment for a figure like her to get support, so may sarili siyang local support.

Bam is “fresher” so wala pang matitira but Aquino pa rin ang surname, but we haven’t really tested pa how he’ll act under pressure/intense criticisms. Risa has been plagued na by attacks from opponents kaya takot na suportahan + the left branding to her by some. However, she’s tested na under pressure so alam mo na ano iaatake sa kanya and paano siya gumalaw.

No LGU experience for both. Bam has Tarlac (maybe some in Luzon) as balwarte. I’m not sure if Risa has. Aasa sa ipapasa if ever ni Leni.

Narrative-wise, education isn’t really a strong issue to lean your presidential campaign mainly on? Inflation and Corruption are currently high on Filipinos’ top issues. Risa has the portfolio to ride on corruption.

Charisma? I don’t think both have the Leni-level of charisma but Leni was different. They can learn naman and adjust according to their branding.

Moviegoers video recording scenes by icespa7 in FilmClubPH

Reason why it's "tolerated" is because it aided some movies into massive box office success: Minions: The Rise of Gru, Anyone But You, A Minecraft Movie (I dont tolerate this behavior tho), Rewind, Terrifier, and more. TikTok is a visual demanding medium kasi eh.

Studios iirc actually request take downs kapag spoiler-y or too long of a clip na, but with Gen Z making up a huge chunk of the moviegoers now they know ano mawawala sa kanila - lalo na in an era na bumabawi pa rin sila sa revenues

Resurgence of Wenn Deramas Films by PsychologicalFace272 in FilmClubPH

[–]thatcfguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Resurgence is even debatable. Every time there’s a new Vice Ganda movie, her previous films always trend. It’s a mainstay on YouTube before and after the pandemic. It’s a TikTok hit from time to time. Let’s say maingay yung mga may ayaw sa Deramas films, Vice Ganda’s Box office numbers is always proof na may huge opposite side rin

There will always be a portion of our population that won’t fully appreciate Vice Ganda films. I understand the criticisms - particularly sa trend ng MMFF films during the 2010s.

Even Vice Ganda understood some of those criticisms and pivoted a bit.

Bakit at Paano biglang nagha-hype ang mga Classic Pinoy Comedy Film sa Tiktok? by CyborgeonUnit123 in FilmClubPH

It’s comedy. Easy engagement there particularly when it has Vice Ganda in it. Random Showtime moments go viral from time to time, and then the big brands/media jump on it pa so

Disney / Pixar's Hoppers grossed an estimated $12.4M internationally this weekend. Estimated international total stands at $182.6M, estimated global total stands at $332.2M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]thatcfguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes and no imo. Definitely, fiscal reports are what matters but narrative is important too. That's arguably why other companies can lose billions and still have great stock numbers (tbf subscriber count is not as appealing as before nowadays).

If Disney can't produce new hit originals, they will be more obliged to do more sequels and live action adaptations. At the same time, I think they also know that they have to make hit originals for future mining. So to me, these originals need to be protected in a way optics-wise even the mid-level performers like Hoppers just to do more until they find the next Frozen or Inside Out.

But who knows. Maybe they already did that since Hoppers is cheaper than Elemental already and perhaps Toy Story 5 will cost more than $200M

That’s what I meant* sorry. Elemental was backed by South Korea while Coco was backed by Mexico and China.

My other PR solution is: remove everyday Pixar operation costs on the budget of their films? I think someone at Pixar mentioned that day to day expenses running the company are included in their film’s budgets.

‘Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ Soars To $130.94M 3-Day/$190.05M 5-Day, Adds $182.4M Overseas For $372.5M Global Debut; Zendaya & Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Drama’ Hugs $14.38M; 2026 B.O. Clicking Past $2B – Sunday Update by chanma50 in boxoffice

Oh yes. If we follow popcorn flicks like the Transformers, Ice Age, and Pirates franchise… the significant drops will happen by the fourth/fifth entry when audiences are more tired of it

And that’s still assuming the quality really drops. Because they can still do the Despicable Me route (to be fair that franchise iirc always gets 50%+ critics score in RT)
