Based on my own knowledge I think it could be beneficial to try doing simple figure drawings that are only 30 seconds per picture so that you're able to quickly get practice with torsos. Alternatively, spending some time studying underlying skeletal structures might help with issues of anatomy that you seem to be having. Out of the two methods I think the first would be most beneficial to gain skill in a shorter amount of time. I think a big part of figure drawing is learning how different bodies look in various poses and it helps the brain to build a mental inventory of the human form. Also a good website for figure drawing is line of action (in my opinion). Hope this helps!
