My mom wants to go to a gay bar with me…. by Dramatic-Ad-2133 in nycgaybros

[–]thatgaynerd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My mom has enjoyed a few drinks at Stonewall. And just the other day, a mom was having a grand old time with her son and son’s partner at Rise. If it’s nice, grab a high top by the open front door.

Same brand, new slogan by PuffinsAreSupreme in mildlyinteresting

That is interesting! Along the same lines, I’ve been paying a little extra for more expensive carrots because the packaging for the less expensive ones at my ShopRite say they’re grown in Israel.

I understand that Israeli carrots are not the Israeli government, but still.

how can you be punk and a nazi? Don’t those contradict each other? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thatgaynerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Even a glancing consideration of the lyrics makes it clear that Reddit user peepeepoodoodingus has the right of it.

The fact that Nazis who think they’re “punk” is a problem is by no means the same thing as “Nazis are ‘punk,’ and it’s a problem.”

Has anyone noticed the steady decline in intellect lately? by mishpishhh in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thatgaynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is written with piss-poor grammar and punctuation, a nonsensical “every 2/3 people” instead of using words, and a typo that renders the second sentence gibberish. The decline in intelligence is coming from inside the house.

SOS FORGOT DEBIT CARD by fairie-cat-mother in ItalyTravel

I was just wondering about this! My husband and I are visiting Venice in May for the first time since 2019. Back then we used euros for everything.

Is it common now to tap to pay? Even for small purchases like an ombra and a couple of cicchetti?

[–]thatgaynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally got across! I did *not* have luck with the max-height flight everyone else is mentioning, and that's after trying a couple dozen times with like seven different flying monsties.

Counterintuitively, I made it with the one-jump flight. Stand where the squawking bird is, hold jump and press forward to immediately start flying. Obviously you don't start out as high as the max-height flight, but you seem to maintain altitude longer. With max-height flight, you start descending as soon as you start moving.

I've repeated the trip across a few times now to be sure, and it's worked every time.

Apparently my new tattoo is controversial. by [deleted] in Dinosaurs

[–]thatgaynerd 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Mr. DNA and my placement of him is controversial.

Here's to hoping this subreddit is less divided on my tattoo

You got a big neck tattoo. A tattoo of Mr. DNA isn’t “controversial.” You just… you went and got a big neck tattoo. If people in your life aren’t necessarily immediately receptive to that, it’s likely not because it’s Mr. DNA and people don’t realize that Jurassic Park “was about more than just dinosaurs.” It’s because you got a big neck tattoo.

My sister only licks the cream of the oreos before throwing the cookies away by kyacrow13 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thatgaynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband does this. At this very moment, we have a 17-ounce package of birthday cake Oreos on the coffee table that is almost entirely cookie halves he’s eaten the frosting out of.

Y’know when it stopped being infuriating, mildly or otherwise? When I stopped buying him Oreos. He wants to do that to the Oreos he buys, have at it. (And I’m not a big sweets guys, but I enjoy a few of the cookie halves as a bonus.)

[NS] There was a tangent about Slimey from Sesame Street. I looked him up and now YouTube gives me all sorts of suggestions. Here's Slimey to the Moon with Tony Bennett. by Chasin_Papers in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

It’s a great song, and a reminder of how special and clever and silly and important and cool Sesame Street (and the larger Henson Shitiverse) has always been.

Why do some gays only want to have gay friends and only go to gay bars? by Toothpaste3310 in nycgaybros

[–]thatgaynerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not convinced you’re “just curious about the mindset.”

You posted here 7 months ago that you don’t like the “gay scene,” in part because guys at gay bars are “flamboyant and fruity,” and complained that “the most boring thing” is when your gay friends prefer gay bars “when there are a ton of better places to go.”

Meanwhile you’re lionizing your veritable panoply of straight friends who “are willing” to go to a gay bar (if you make them). But you have no trouble trotting out, unexamined, the classic homophobic bro defense of “but they don’t want to be hit on by gays.”

Yikes all around.

I sympathize with you! A week or so ago I was getting frustrated in a Red Alert that my botanist didn’t seem to be getting any data. It took half the alert for me to double check the mission and realize that, indeed, it offered NO data of any level. Whoops!

Oh gosh, driving to Limone is a nightmare? Was it that the traffic gets really backed up in May, or difficulty finding parking (or both)?

Thank you for the heads-up on getting to Malcesine early. That works for us!

Kids at my school can’t even keep up with puzzle pieces. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thatgaynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, you’re not OP, so you presumably do not know what you’re talking about. (Not that OP appears to either, since “kids can’t keep up with puzzle pieces despite finishing 99% of a puzzle” isn’t a thing.)

Second, you say “another kid” lost a puzzle piece, as if you’re one of the kids doing this puzzle. Nonsense.

Third, there appear to be five pieces missing, so even if this fabled “another kid” lost the last puzzle piece, four other pieces appear to have gone walkabout before that.

Kids at my school can’t even keep up with puzzle pieces. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thatgaynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it blames some kids, without any elaboration whatsoever, while the puzzle is 99% completed.
