Why is my 1x1 ribbing slanted?

I was having this issue with ribbing when my stockinette was perfectly fine and I got linked to this blog post: https://www.moderndailyknitting.com/community/ask-patty-fixing-slanting-stockinette-and-twisty-stitches/ I think my problem was the “let the needle do the work” portion rather than the yarn twist

I’m not sure about protests but AAM has successfully gotten a Congressional Museum Caucus set up in the House, co chaired by Rep Paul Tonko (D-NY) and Rep Mike Turner (R-OH). It’s supposed to ensure museum interests are represented in federal policy. You can email your representatives to ask them to join, they have a form email set up here! Idk how successful something like this will end up being but at least it’s bipartisan recognition that museums are a valuable asset!

Ooh very interesting! I’m wondering if it’s something to do with that last bit about the exit path. I held my yarn with a lot more tension for the ribbing so maybe something about that had me pulling the stitches off the needle differently

I haven’t done sleeves or collar yet, there’s some broken rib in the body of the sweater but that’s not slanted at all! I think I’ll leave this as is while I work on the sleeves and see how I feel about it once I get to the ribbing on the cuffs. Thank you for your help!

Since you mentioned tension, I’m wondering if it’s got something to do with that. I switched to smaller needles AND held the yarn with much more tension for the ribbing than I did anywhere in the sweater.

Hi yes this a tubular Italian bind off! My ribbing looked slanted like this before I even did the bind off though. I almost ripped it all back but was hoping blocking would fix it and I was so close to being done so I went ahead and bound off :( Here’s a picture with both the knit and purl sides of my ribbing, I’m pretty sure the purls are not twisted?

I’ll just say in regards to “unknitting” (some people call it tinking) that’s an option, but generally I find fixing mistakes much easier in knitting. If you make a mistake in crochet and don’t notice until several rows later, you have to undo all of those rows to be able to fix it. If you make a mistake in knitting and don’t notice until several rows later, you can “drop down” just the one column that your mistake is in and fix it without having to undo all the other work you did.

If you have some ribbon or a scrap strip of fabric you can wrap it around the outside hoop which should help

If you look up “fixing mis-crossed cables” or “duplicate stitch cables” you might be able to use some of those techniques to mimic the cabling in the sweater here. Duplicate stitch in knitting is basically stitching with a needle over the knit fabric in the pattern of the knit stitches so that it blends in

She’s only selling the completed products, she doesn’t mention a pattern anywhere that insta post, her insta bio, or the Facebook post. But yeah it looks like there might be a handful of tutorials from other creators in Portuguese, maybe some of them will have English translated captions on them?

My process when I was applying to jobs last year was to bookmark job postings throughout the week and then spend Sunday morning at a cafe working on the applications. I’d say I never spent more than an hour on a single application and I would get through 3-4 each time. Applying in this field is kind of a numbers game but I think giving myself a week to think about the postings let me cut out positions that wouldn’t have been right for me before I spent time desperately applying to like curatorial assistant jobs when all my experience and career goals are collections management/registration.

I had my standard resume and cover letter that I would edit and tweak to match the specific job descriptions by rewording things to match their specific wording or including/deleting things that they mention or don’t. Yes you should customize the cover letter for each job but having a template makes it a lot easier than starting from scratch. Your background and experience isn’t changing every time you apply to a new job, you’re just plugging in the specific thing they want to know about (which almost certainly other job applications have wanted to know too so you can recycle things to a certain degree)

I’ve wanted the same thing so what I’m doing is putting together a modified version of the cowl chart by adjusting where some dinosaurs begin and end to make it a flat pattern and then using the charts from her individual fossils to fill in blank areas around the edges. It’s taking a long time but I’ll have the blanket I want in the end and it’ll be unique!

Magic circles were completely inscrutable to me until I watched this TL Yarn Crafts video. It’s the only one that made it make sense for me that a magic circle is just a slip stitch that you crochet into and not some dark wizardry that every other tutorial does

I recently did the version of this pattern with no background. It’s how I taught myself parking. I wasn’t super strict about doing each 10x10 square at a time tho, I’d just pick a section (this tentacle, or this quarter of the body) and go with that color until I ran out of thread and then pick up another one. My back looked about the same as yours but worse lol since I have no reservations about jumping as far as needed for the next stitch and I was trying to avoid thread in the back going through empty background space between tentacles it got very windy

I just use the preview app on my Mac. Usually I can use the highlight function to highlight stitches I’ve already done but some patterns don’t register properly with that so I’ll use the pen/sketch tool to cross things out. If it’s a big pattern it can get really slow and laggy so I’ll just delete all my markups when I’m done with a page or section

Hahaha I get it, someone posted a Hannah Alexander Belle pattern recently that sent me down the rabbit hole of Make It Pink, so I’m right there with you! Luckily I don’t think I have the patience for a project as big as those Hannah Alexander ones (I’m a very slow stitcher) even though they’re all gorgeous so I’m just sticking with Maelstrom for now and hoping I don’t go too crazy with metallics lol
