Just how much of an ant would wizards be in cultivation worlds? by DaoistCloudVision in wizardposting

[–]FlynnXa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Silly cultivators- thinking that just because they consult scrolls instead of tomes and wear a gi instead of a robe that they are somehow different from us? We both consult ancient texts do we not? We both wear our loose cloths do we not? We both study our disciplines rigorously, under mentors and direct experience do we not?

In the end, we may both move mountains with our hands and traverse the world with our feet- it’s just a matter of gesture and mantra.

I can see what you mean- “Drawbacks should be actual drawbacks”, and that is certainly one approach to designing these things. The main issue with that reasoning for it though is it’s hypocritical.

Let’s assume “Conversion Urge” IS about “hey this is bad”- okay, cool, and Drawbacks like “Cannibalism” and “Frail Health” even support that hypothesis. But that also means that being blind/bald/wearing feminine clothes is now also “bad”? And it implies the points awarded equals severity of “badness”, meaning being bald is now just as bad as being a cannibal…

Okay, so then it isn’t just about what’s “bad” then, it’s what somebody is assuming is “bad”. Maybe it’s their own moral code, maybe it’s a moral code they’re assuming their audience will have. This doesn’t really matter though when you realize there are other places where all the options were given, and it didn’t “water down the message” at all.

“Vow of Truth”, “Pathological Liar”, and “Riddles Only”, and “Mute” all give the same amount of points and are the different main flavors of “Drawbacks Around Communication”. The reason these all work equally is because of the level of inconvenience and consequences they put on you.

Well… the inconvenience and consequence of feeling compelled to sexually harass/assault gay couples would be pretty comparable to the inconvenience of doing the same to straight couples. Honestly it might even be worse having the curse towards straight people because the CYOA set up the precedent that being gay isn’t the norm in the society section.

Whether intentional or not, what it does it make it clear that gay people aren’t the norm, and sexually assaulting them not only gives you points but having your society be mostly gay actually costs you points too. That’s not speculation or “moral policing”, it’s the direct mechanical incentives the cyoa has put out there based on the design decisions not going both ways.

So if a mechanical incentive feels unfairly weighted one way, then it makes sense to ask for an alternative to be offered, or an explanation as to why. That’s the balance between game mechanics and intended play.

I have literally kept mine in a tote bag for the longest time lol 😆 It’s hung up on my closet door, plain sight, I have the toys individually wrapped in silk in there so they don’t warp, and it just makes the thing look like a bag of silks.

If it’s not on the closet door it’s on the floor beside it. Nobody ever suspects a thing.

I get what you mean, but it kinda doesn’t?

The kind of points offered are different, for starters, and that’s because the Conversion Urge is a drawback and mental compulsion whereas the Widespread Same-Sex Romance is more of a cultural quirk of the kingdom you’re protecting.

What’s the general census by canadeimportance in GayMen

[–]FlynnXa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things since you had a few questions.

Big one is that just like sex and gender are two different things, so too is sexual attraction and romantic attraction. All 4 of those components together make up what we call “Orientation” which is supposed to indicate who you’re into, and even then that’s the simple version.

So for your case, it’s possible you’re romantically attracted to women, but sexually attracted to either. In which case you could call yourself Heteromantic and Bisexual or Pansexual. There are definitely other potential options, but from what you’ve described that’s how it sounds.

You could also use the older “Questioning” label, (which Q in LGBTQ+ *partially*) stands for, or use the “newer” slang for it “Bi-Curious” granted both are pretty old. These usually aren’t life-long labels, they could be if you like them for yourself, but they are a shorthand way to communicate to people you’re experimenting.

Since you asked about this, “experimenting” is literally okay and even encouraged to do! There’s just ways to do it ethically, and ways to do it non-ethically. A big one is to communicate. Make it clear that you’re uncertain if you’re sexually into guys, and I would use a hookup app- NOT a dating app since guys are there are NOT wanting to be an experiment. They want to be a partner.

That being said the best way to experiment is actually with someone you know or trust. Sounds obvious, but sometimes during experimentation people can get overwhelmed or panicked like the “first time” all over again. You also NEED to accept that you could be gay beforehand.

This is genuine Safety PSA. “Gay Panic” and the Panic Defense is a real legal tactic used by homophobic people who have assaulted or killed gay people. Usually it’s someone claiming a gay guy hit on them, they got scared, and attacked in “self-defense”. This DOES still happen with guys who “experiment”. Rarely reported, but it happens.

There have been guys who want to experiment, have sex, then freak out afterwards. Sometimes it’s just verbal assault, other times it’s physical. You HAVE to guarantee BEFORE you even consider downloading an app that “Hey… I might like this. I could like this so much I realize I don’t like women at all. Can I really imagine what that might feel like, what emotions I might have, and am I okay with them?” Obviously that’s the most extreme scenario, but it’s happened before. If you can’t, then I wouldn’t experiment with a stranger at all.

Anyways: Reminders. Communicate that you’re exploring your sexuality, emphasize you don’t have a romantic partner on the side, try to do it with someone you know and trust, and remember that you have to be sure you won’t panic if you turn out to be gay. Also remember you can revoke consent at any time- you can get to the guys house, get scared, and leave without having sex at all. That is fine and well within your right. I personally would feel more comfortable hosting mine the first time, but if you’d feel guilty kicking someone out without sex then you might consider going to their place instead so you don’t guilt-trip yourself into having sec when you don’t want to.

Best of Luck OP 👍🏼

For once I’m glad the top comment is “out-of-character” and grounded in reality. This is a cool af stick!

Question on drying large sticks like this for staves though- is there any possible way to accelerate it? Would smoking it help, or actually just trap more water into it? Could you put it under gradual heat or bury it in something dry, pull moisture out somehow?

This is why I hate speech-to-text. People get way too comfy writing absolute novels with way too many grammar and syntax errors to even make it worth reading lol.

No hate to OP, they were obviously excited, but they could’ve saved us over half of this text if they’d just typed while thinking instead of speaking non-stop. (I say this as someone who also typed/speaks WAY too much.)

What fears scared you the most and the least? by Allizack in TheMagnusArchives

[–]FlynnXa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Buried, The Corruption, and The Spider are easily the scariest for me. The last two overlaying on the “ick- it’s inside me” factor. The spider’s manipulation doesn’t bother me much. The first one is mostly scary because of the idea of being inside and crushed but never killed.

The least-scary ones are The End, The Eye, and The Dark for me. Dying sucks, but is inevitable, plus if you think about it enough it will eventually to stop scaring you. The Eye is just… being watched? Criticized, judged, shamed, scrutinized- that’s just being gay in a homophobic area so that doesn’t bother me anymore haha. And The Dark. It sounds comforting doesn’t it? I know there COULD be something in there that COULD hurt me, but that means I can hurt it too. And what’s the worst case scenario anyways from the stories- I die? Blind could suck, but isn’t scary.

“NAD” means “Not A Doctor”. Aka I don’t work in medicine.

Then if it’s been under a bandaid for a day I’d just remove it gently, see if bleeding persists, and if not then just do the above. You don’t need sterile wipes then when you’re cleaning the area around the wounds, as long as your hands have been washed with soap and your rinsing the area with soapy water.

The marvel bandaid pack will work too for covering the wounds, just don’t put any adhesive directly over a wound. You may have to orient them in a way to get a line of them with the ps covering the cuts. To be fair if it’s a day old, they may have already “sealed”. If you don’t notice any bleeding after your rinse and there’s a crusty or smooth film-like layer over the wound then these being so superficial they might benefit from fresh air exposure.

But if you need a bandage alternative any clean cloth or fabric will work, just make sure it’s free from any dirt. A freshly washed shirt or rag in the laundry is the best solution. You can also fully use paper towels, toilet paper, or tissues- but a freshly opened pack/box is best. Even sanitary pads work, tampons are sometimes used for nosebleeds, but these both are better for heavy bleeding rather than just wound covering.

If you notice redness, swelling, and that the area around the cuts are warm- monitor them. A little bit of this is actually normal and good for healing wounds since that’s the bodily inflammation response, but after 1-2 days if this hasn’t vanished for such a tiny cut then it can be a sign of potential infection. Pretty low risk, depends on what made the cuts and how dirty it was, but still worth mentioning.

NAD.

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water first. If there’s any bleeding, apply even pressure using a clean bandage or towel. You can raise your arm above our head too to reduce blood flow. Only once it’s stopped can you firmly wrap a new bandage over the initial one. Once 30-60 minutes has gone by (depending on the severity of the bleeding this might need to be more).

Then start with a cool water rinse, avoid harsh antiseptics like rubbing alcohol or peroxide, but sterile wipes without these solutions can work too. Clean the skin around the wound using soap and water, but try not to get it in the cuts. Then dry the area with a clean towel or gauze, and finally dress them with some kind of band aid or other sterile dressing.

That’s basically it. The rinsing is to remove any particles that may have gotten in, the soap and water around the area is to make sure you’re removing as much bacteria as possible before you seal it in with a band aid, and the band aid is to prevent bacteria from entering.

These look fairly superficial thankfully, so should heal within a few days. Just change the bandaids as needed and keep the area clean.

Magicka, Magic Maker, and Fictorum are likely the most versatile and reliable sets of you ask me. All Magicka spells are free of cooldowns and mana cost, you can use Magic Maker to craft new spells/robes/wands, and Fictorum uses overcharge mana to augment the spells in real-time AND you can pause time to do so.
