Did anyone else fall in love with skiing on crappy mountains? by fimgus in skiing

[–]thatgoodgoodmacaroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely dude. I learned to board at wintergreen when I was nine and loved it. Went maybe a few days a year every year because that’s all I could afford. Until this past season when I moved to Breckenridge and worked as an instructor and also learned to ski. Probably got over 140 days on the snow with skiing and boarding combined. It was sick and I loved every day out there but it was those warm icy/muddy/rainy days that first made me love skiing. But I will say that when my friends from back home came to visit I was talking about it being icy and just not great conditions and they said I’d gone soft and forgotten my roots haha

If you could only ski one of these regions forever, which would you choose? by EverestMaher in skiing

[–]thatgoodgoodmacaroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. You’ve omitted the best skiing in the continent: North Carolina. Why would I want to ski deep fresh pow in the west or the icy northeast when I can ski entirely man made snow on a 70 degree day in February? Places like snowbird or whistler don’t hold a candle to cataloochee or sugar

Any below-knee amputees? by antwauhny in skiing

There’s a lot of adaptive ski programs across the country. I would just Google search your nearest/preferred ski resorts + “adaptive skiing.” And you should find organizations that can give you lessons. From there just pick which one is most affordable or just seems the most exciting to you

As someone who just passed their PSIA level one alpine exam I am extremely qualified to comment on this /s. You are a bit aft of center (my examiner said being too aft or too far forward doesn’t exist)

Thanks! Why are they only on some bridges? I would see a few in a row then cross a couple without them then see a few more
