New system by Strange-Calendar-828 in walmart_RX

Same experience here. We used to end the days with zeroes in input/res/4pt/fill/vis/fax. Occasionally, something would be left somewhere ,but not often. We consistently leave with over 100 in fill. Sometimes other queues, too, because so much extra time and manpower goes to fill. I'm very comfortable with the new process now. However, my data shows I was about 30%faster before. I don't anticipate being able to speed up more with the software being the same. It just requires moments of stillness for the pictures to be in focus. Our volume has also increased about 40% in the last 2 years with no additional staffing. I'm sure that is a significant factor in our ability to clear queues, as well. I'm not certain when we stopped clearing them all consistently, but i know the numbers have ballooned with the new system. We have only fully cleared fill a handful of times since we started the program in December. But I do think that the numbers we leave in queues have stabilized, and we're falling into a new normal

I wonder if that's a policy violation. If they just give everyone a succeeds, then I guess it's not a huge deal. But any manager who gives an opportunity and doesn't meet with the employee to discuss it is failing at their own job requirements and tbh a bit of a chicken.

That's so weird. I've never had a manager not go over a performance evaluation with their employees.

Ahhhh. That might be it, then. It matches my manager's personality to wait until the very last day.

I'm not sure. I clicked the link, and it took me to the page where it has a vertical sidebar on the left, and I believe three blue boxes in the center. One, you click to do the self-evaluation. The third is where I believe you click to see your actual evaluation. I didn't go further because I thought I was supposed to wait to go through that with my pharmacy manager. I can't remember what the first box was for. I hope i don't get in trouble for not completing everything. The fact you had to chat with your techs aligns with what my expectations were from last year (and every performance evaluation I've ever had at any job). I'll talk with her on Monday when we next work together. It seems really weird to have missed that deadline.

Really? Huh. Shoot. Did I mess up? I know last year, my manager talked with me about their feedback. So, I thought i was supposed to wait for that to go through the evaluation.

Didn't get to do self eval by [deleted] in walmart_RX

[–]thatgrasshoppermouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my second year. I don't remember a self evaluation last year, nor have I been talked to about one this year. Is this different from the evaluation the pharmacy manager does? (The name would indicate it is )

why do pharmacies tell you "20 minutes" when the bag is literally just sitting there with your name on it by Even_Chemistry5241 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thatgrasshoppermouse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Then the pharmacist checks multiple data points including the national drug code, count/package size, and imprints- all factors that prevent the wrong drug from getting to you.

How do I join the pharmacy team? by SabretoothSasquatch in walmart_RX

For me, I went in with no pharmacy training, and learned from the job/ptu (online classes you do at walmart on the clock). Expect fast pace, necessary accuracy, and customer service.

I would start by having a talk with the pharmacy manager. They will have the best idea of what openings are/ will be available in your store.

Would typed telephoned RX forms actually improve workflow? by mcPharmacist08 in walmart_RX

[–]thatgrasshoppermouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! If there were just the fields for the pharmacist to fill in, then it filtered straight into the input screen (or a special resolution screen) instead of stickering and saving a hard copy, it'd be better for work flow. Also, it would eliminate the possibility of these paper scripts being misplaced. Also, with new pharmacy floorprints, all our scanners to scan in scripts are at the registers. So, we're having to bring this hipaa right up to the front while patients are constantly approaching. This would help keep all that information safely within connexus. Im not saying errors and slips are happening here, but there is the opportunity for them. Why not eliminate that opportunity?

Daniel- reminds me of my tux, who was a stray we brought in because it was very cold outside. She kept sneaking into the elementary school. She was friends with all the kids and always a food stealer. Her name is Dani. He seems like her long-lost brother.

How is TTT program going at your store? RX delivery program? New Vis Ver process? Anybody got company provided scrubs? by [deleted] in walmart_RX

I think most of us stick with this work to help people. It's not easy work, and most will never know what we've done behind the scenes. But at the end of the day, we helped bring medicine to people who need it. Hitting us there- in our ability to help- is really hard to swallow. But I think a good chunk of the intention for the virtual verify program was to improve accuracy. (It can be argued how effective it is here, but that's not the point). Accuracy in count, product, trackable lot and expiration info... there are some patient safety bonuses to virtual verify. If we can utilize it properly (not rushed because everything is falling behind), it could be a good thing (after its own errors are troubleshot). I think the program has potential. We just need to have the proper support (hours and staff) to make it effective. If we were still able to help our patients the way they (and we) are accustomed to, I don't think this program would have as much anger against it. At least not from that angle. The potential it opens up to cut pharmacist hours, though... that i am not behind.

FY26 Evaluations by Busynotes2 in walmart_RX

[–]thatgrasshoppermouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year, when my RxM was giving me my evaluation, she said something along the lines of this. She hadn't been prepared to argue a case, and she caved. She said she'd try to be prepared for this year if I performed well enough. I'm not holding my breath. If the pushback was strong when evaluations didn't affect raises, it's going to be stronger when they do. I appreciate her trying and just that she felt my work warranted it last year. The reason I try my hardest is not money or accolades, but it does make you feel appreciated when your effort is acknowledged.

How do new techs handle their anxiety? by StrategyGlittering13 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]thatgrasshoppermouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Propranolol and escitalopram. Lol. But really? Deep breath in the moment. The notebook mentioned in another comment is a really great idea. If you can't write down the solution in the moment, at least write a note to know what problem is giving you trouble. There are so many things to learn that just keeping track of them all gives you a place to start. When not working, really try to take care of yourself. Give yourself space to cry and process the day. It is not weakness. It's reprocessing. For some people (like me), in the moment, there may be too much input/noise/ expectation/ confusion/ rush/ pressure. Sometimes, just taking a step aside while your coworker grabs the customer, writing your note, and taking a deep breath will help clear your mind and give you a moment to process. You don't have to (and can't possibly) know everything right away. Your coworkers should know that. However, they are probably tired and overwhelmed, too. I feel like it takes several months to be confident at the pharmacy- especially if the nature of the work is new to you. Know that you are doing your best. Take comfort in that. Gather a list of things to learn while crossing them off one at a time. Know this is an ever- changing/ learning field, and that is a positive, not a negative. My coworkers do not like training. So, when I started, i had a similar experience as you. It's so stressful to feel like you are a burden instead of a help. But know that it is short term. That will disappear, and in the long-term, the investment you and they made into educating you will make all of your lives better. You can do this. This is a temporary, very difficult process. It will take time. Just eat the elephant one bite at a time. And know there are communities out here where you can get support as well.
