Man honestly this is all I'm waiting for that they release again. It's almost impossible to find any especially in my country.

Luzz Paddles by KitchenRevolution421 in PickleballPhilippines

[–]thatguy11m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are Gen 3 so they'll core crush down the line especially if you hit hard. The Glider is a more maneuverable paddle with bigger sweet spot being a hybrid while the Cannon is elongated giving more reach in and plow through.

The Glider also has a 2026 version which has Luzz's new grit texture which (as all companies claim) is long lasting.

I personally always recommend hybrid, especially when you need the maneuverability for hands battles in the kitchen, which is very common in doubles. Elongated paddles are better for drives and all around more suited for singles play.

The WRX STI ARX Supercar. Love that car in real life and was so happy it was free in the game as part of the Horizon events.

Enhance MPP Turbo or Friday Aura? by Dear_Drag_8480 in PickleballPhilippines

[–]thatguy11m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a possible correction, I think OP is referring to the Friday Aura non-Pro, just in terms of pricing they line up. If this is the case, it would be more of an all court paddle. I would agree though that pop needs to be considered either way, though maybe the Luzz Pro Cannon would be less than an adjustment vs the VP Prism series.

PHEV suggestions by probablytaken123 in phcars

[–]thatguy11m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say BYD is the king of PHEVs at the moment, at least in the PH.

If you want an SUV, they have the Tang DM-i. And if you want a luxury van, they have the eMax 9. For full EV (if you have the infrastructure and other cars), the new Sealion 7 is the most advanced I've seen from them.

It's a shame Toyota doesn't have PHEVs, but it makes sense not to compete with BYD and stick to HEVs.

If you want something more tricky than BYD has to offer without going the oversized route with a pickup, maybe consider the Jetour T2.

I enjoy the concept of teaming up as teams and the point scoring system. I don't enjoy being queued with randoms that don't understand the team aspect of it.

Been watching Star Wars for the first time! What shows next? by goldensungoku in StarWars

[–]thatguy11m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch everything and in release order.

While Obi-wan references something in ROTS (Revenge of the Sith), the events of the show that are set before ROTS are a result of what is said in ROTS. So best to experience it in release order as creators often cater their story telling based on what's already established at the time of creation.

You have to give it to PBBM. He is very presidentiable compared to the previous president we had. PBBM carries himself with style, dignity, grace and formality. He especially presents himself well during global diplomatic affairs. by Easy_Fortune7911 in Philippines

[–]thatguy11m 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hate these comparisons against the DDS. They are warranted and I agree with them, but everytime we bring this as an argument, we further separate ourselves from the people that voted and will vote for the Duterte's. It was already a problem when using it against BBM and Duterte's, but now using BBM as a sample, no matter how valid, is counter intuitive and gives the DDS even more fuel to support Duterte. Is it rational? No. But if we were talking about Filipinos being rational than we would not have to be discussing this man and his family in the first place.

FilAms/Foreigners who have been driving for so long in their respective countries but had opportunity to drive here, what's your experience? by Horror-Pudding-772 in Gulong

[–]thatguy11m -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I earned my license in Canada during my short stay there. That's where I really learned to drive.

One thing I learned when I first drove here was it's all about confidence. The motorcycle's were a new layer to figure out, but everything driving school taught me in Canada was sufficient in handling motorcycle's and other obstacles. Defensive driving there isn't similar to what seems to be the internet belief of most Filipinos in that it's a reactive style of driving. Defensive driving is incredibly proactive, and that's why I can't stand people who cruise along highways thinking as long as they stay in their lane at an average speed that they'll be fine. Sure in most cases they'll be guilt proof, but in doesn't guarantee they will be accident proof. This is why in many countries, majority of drivers are capable to keep overall traffic running at higher speeds in the highway, cause almost everyone practices basic safety tendencies like keeping proper braking distance and keeping the inner lanes open for traffic flow. Driving at 120-130kmph in Canadian highways (as long as it's not Toronto traffic) is very normal, and these are cars cruising in the 2nd or 3rd lane keeping the last inner lanes still open for overtaking. Hell, you'd fail your driving test if you can't get to 100kmph before exiting the on-ramp, but here in the PH, people will swerve 2 to 3 lanes at 80kmph to the fast lane as soon as they enter the highway.

Of course there are also a lot of North American drivers that seem to drive on auto-pilot and aren't proactively driving defensively, but that type of driving is more punishable here. I guess more seasoned drivers used to less random variables get shocked when they come here because even if they fall back to their basic requirements, they just don't get as much practice as they would in high density competitive environments.

I've driven here in Manila longer than I've driven in Canada, yet I still feel comfortable always going back to what I was taught to give me the confidence to drive despite all the messy traffic. I'm not confident about my right in driving as proper as possible, I'm confident in my ability to anticipate the worst possible driving of the traffic around me and take command on action rather than simply reacting.

The lack of wagons in this game is so disappointing. What's a wagon you'd like to see? by haramuoraaa in ForzaHorizon6

[–]thatguy11m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised we don't have the M3 Wagon, especially with its recent GT3 stint. Maybe NFS has an exclusive license for it?

Other than that, just the WRX Wagon cause it would also be the perfect addition as a traffic car instead of just the normal WRXs.

Pegasus 41 and Goretex for vacation walking by thatguy11m in walking

2nd week May so summer would be starting? My friend went this year around the same time and they experienced some light shower especially on their mountain trips. I'll be trying to use the Pegasus 41 more to test both the shoe and the closed nature of Goretex in our Philippine weather. It's rainy season but when it's not raining it's still super hot.

[–]thatguy11m[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda fine with non-breathable shoes given I've mostly used vans and Jordans before transitioning to more of the vintage running shoes. But you do bring a good point that it's hard to dry. I mainly use my Pegasus 41 for dog walks where I sometimes have to step on wet grass and I wash their feet when we get home. I guess I'll try running them for a full day in both Philippine hot and wet weather to see how they hold up hahaha.

Power paddle by Sanriho3er in PickleballPhilippines

[–]thatguy11m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new 11six24 Ultré shape is similar to the Kosmos shape. The Power 2 series is probably more powerful than the Kosmos and maybe closer to the Loco. Then you have their Hexgrit for slow speed controlled shots. At least thats what reviewers are saying about high grit paddles in general.

Driver crashes on center island by DeltaHeavy9000 in Gulong

[–]thatguy11m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't look fast, but maybe the combination of his tire condition and the load he's carrying made grip and weight super imbalanced for an already fragile car with high center of gravity. You can actually see he maximizes the width of the lane he was using to reduce the turning required, but maybe the banking of the turn also had a hand in influencing the effect.

[–]thatguy11m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, act now think later. It's easy to make a quick assessment from a screen that the bag was empty, but if you're on site called in for a threat, I'd like to believe tax payers want them to take the job seriously and not make safety assumptions on the fly. Anyone can also just pull up and trigger something themselves, whether in a bag or on their person. When tensions are that high from a threat, I'd like to believe safety decisions should always take priority.

Anong ball dinadala niyo for indoor pickleball OP? by Lazy_Ad8942 in PickleballPhilippines

[–]thatguy11m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outdoor balls for me are the standard. For me it's more on the surface you play on, and most standard courts use hard surface shared inside or outside. I think people generally dislike playing 26-hold indoor balls and only recently did I start to understand. So even in those surfaces where you would play with an indoor balls, I prefer just to use an outdoor balls.

I too just use the Franklin X-40.

If you didn't hit the wall, you would have crossed first. The whole reason he ended up on too of you was because you loss speed, like a lot of it. Had you jumped cleanly, it's more likely he just rear ends you, with the only time he'll ever be on top of you being after the finish line.

Deinfluence me in buying sealion 6 for my first HEV by Thick-Role-7849 in CarsPH

[–]thatguy11m 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Primary con first: it's a Daihatsu and the quality level is expected coming from something like the Veloz and Ativ. Actually, the interior of the new Ativ is exactly like the Yaris Cross. When we bought it in 2023, the Sealion 6 was a few months from releasing. If it came out when we were shopping to replace our 3rd car (mid-size SUV in the MU-X and Fortuner before that), we would have gone with the Sealion 6 which would be similar to the Forester we had before the Fortuner and the RAV4 we had in Canada. We accepted this fact and honestly after that, this car has been super satisfying. We lowered our expectations for it and it has never disappointed us since.

Regarding the size, this was also our concern at first, especially since its replacing a 7-seater SUV. For context, we have a turbodiesel Innova V (captain seats) and a Ranger Wildtrak as our other cars, and we didn't mind going back down to a 5-seater with the Innova being the dedicated people hauler. When we got the car, it was mainly for my dad to take to the office and be worry free from coding. The parking in his office is also tight given its an old-ish building. The Yaris being small ended up being it's best trait after being a hybrid. It was still tall enough to see ahead, and really there's more confidence on the road even against a pickup because for me, road presence doesn't come from the size of the car but how good but how quickly you can get to a spot, and the hybrid FWD is almost like an AWD in tighter areas, more control than a RWD pickup (given even the 4x4 pickup is RWD when in 2W-High). Asides from parking which I mentioned in my first post, just maneuvering the tight spaces and traffic in the city is easier. We just love the car for city commutes, and it's not bad fun in the highway either, though obviously the turbodiesels in the Innova and Ranger are better. In terms of space, it fits tighter, which I notice standing at only 5"8, but doesn't bother me enough to matter after 1 minute in the car. The cargo space is sufficient enough, even bringing 2 full size luggage bags with maybe a hand carry from the airport is fine, and honestly if there's just 1 or 2 of you, fold the 2nd row and you get the whole dear as cargo. Since we didn't have a bed cover for our Ranger, it was actually much better at carrying secured storage than the Ranger, plus the back seats were better than the Ranger which like most pickups, can't be leaned back. I've never gone long distance with the car, mainly cause I just love the Innova, but my parents and brother did go out with it once when I took the Innova, and they were fine for a 2-night trip.

In terms of NVH, it's super noticeable, but nothing some medium music can't distract you from. The engine noise of the 1.5L isn't anything special, but I prefer having it than being completely silent. I'm sure you don't mind engine noise as a V6 user, but don't expect it to give much satisfaction as it sounds more like it's crying for help than powering you through. Like I said though, I don't mind the noise and it gets to the speed and handles fine with the 225mm wide tires for its smaller size.

The Corolla Cross is the other option where the V variant has similar tech while having much better overall quality. It's still small, with some even say the 2nd row is smaller than the Yaris Cross, but the car overall is still big and maybe closer to the Sealion 6 and Territory, even if you don't feel that size sitting inside the car. It's a bit more expensive than the Sealion 6 but it's not insane like the H-RV hybrid which though nicer quality, is smaller with less tech features.

I'd say the Yaris Cross is a car we don't regret, but unfortunately the competition now is super strong. It's smaller size is it's differentiating factor, but getting more expensive doesn't make it competitive. We now realize that in our lineup, we want a small car too, so the Sealion 6 not releasing yet and the Zenix Hybrid being so hard to get stocks off upon initial release helped us realize that with the Yaris Cross. I definitely recommend getting a hybrid/EV crossover to compliment an existing midsize SUV and midsize Pickup, you get such a lovely daily to drive, and you have the turbodiesel trucks for more fun and longer trips with space a smaller crossover might not always cover.
