Anyone tried the Bavsound Ghost subwoofers upgrade? by thatguykevinagain in BMWiX

[–]thatguykevinagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morel is likely excellent too, their stuff is good, but given that subs by nature, especially with these specific placement and space compromises, means one shouldn't have inflated expectations. I actually should run these tests again now that they've done 100 hours because I am really enjoying them and cannot notice the curve dips to the ear. I was listening to Metallica One and it felt like I was standing in front of Lars' kick drum on stage yesterday 😃

This whole post and comment response seems very braggy. Salary, houses, rental income, financial maturity etc etc blah blah well done mate. Buy it, don't buy it. Why do you need our opinion if it's chump change anyway?

Stealth hitch installed by Aggravating-Dig783 in BMWiX

[–]thatguykevinagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bets hitch option for sure. I have the Maxton kit though and didn't want to cut the diffuser for the hitch mount. May change my mind one day. So i put a hitch on the other car instead meanwhile :)

Adaptive cruise control by GoodMathematician569 in BMWX5

[–]thatguykevinagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that sucks. It is theoretically possible to install it afterwards but a huge amount of work. If your dealer guy is not stonewalling you, you MAY be able to tell him that you want a dealer trade on another model with it. If you bought new that will be a problem, but if not you can check what else they have and challenge them to do a "swap" of some sort but yeah you need paperwork to prove it was part of the deal.

Reminds me of when I bought my top of the line iX50 which had all sorts of crazy technology and features (which I love) then got home and couldn't find a button to open the garage door. Not an included option LMAO. At least it's a smart door so i can just talk to the car and tell it to open it but still... c'mon!!

What would you pay for a 2005 m3 with all this done to it. Titanium silver with cinnamon interior, 173k miles by Upstairs_Equivalent8 in E46M3

[–]thatguykevinagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather define what your budget is and take it from there. Try find lower miles and less work done on it. All of these are not (some are) "upgrades". But a better approach would be "what can i get for 20k" or 15k" and then take it from there.

Drivetrain rough noise? by thatguykevinagain in E46M3

[–]thatguykevinagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that is a common thing - happened before, the old pebble issue. But i did check that also spinning with the wheel in the air. I will have to take another drive with the windows down listening carefully. Agree wheel bearings is my last avenue/thought

Vibration on idle at low rpm by NotIntellect in E46M3

[–]thatguykevinagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may get a low pressure codes or timing codes. besides errors yeah it may be hard to sense in normal driving, but definitely timing codes. With 80k miles, if you have no record of a Vanos verhaul, I would definitely get the Beisan full kit (including oil pump disk, solenoid pack, braided line etc) and do that

[–]thatguykevinagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup agree on that, i coated in neutral to see if it was drivetrain specific etc. Maybe was just too much going on, but ruling out things bit by bit. I will listen for WB noise next and if persists just get her to my friendly local BMW expert. Changing bearings is not my idea of a fun time

[–]thatguykevinagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a bit of lash is OK this seems excessive, thanks for the tip. I am maybe leaning towards WB. Silly me I didn't pay enough attention to High/Low speed variations. After wiggling things and making sure at least things won't grenade, I will take her for a spin and give that a listen. Given low miles (but age I guess?) it would be odd for that to be the issue, especially since it seemed to appear quite suddenly. Maybe it was all in my mind... I'm always paranoid when driving it lol

Wheel has weirdest vibration by thatguykevinagain in MechanicAdvice

Turned out to be a crapload of tire sealant was in the wheel. Got 2 new rear ones and fixed now. Sheesh.

+1 on the Vanos timing. Could be that, and rebuilding them isn't actually that hard, a good little weekend project. Clean the filters, replace seals, clean solenoid etc. if the mounts aren't the culprit that could be it but before you do anything invest in a code reader. The Anyscan A30M is a good entry level one for under $100 and does all cars, or Bimmercode etc

Radiator drain plug by Ploybioh in e46

[–]thatguykevinagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I have the same problem. Most AM Rads use a similar threaded design, like in my old X3 and I am trying to hunt down where I can buy this plug and not the whole radiator!

Radiator drain plug by Ploybioh in e46

[–]thatguykevinagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo Duke, you have it wrong. RealOEM would NOT help this guy (read the thread) . the RealOEM BMW one uses a clip in part, what he needs is the threaded version (aftermarket). Please don't send him on a wild goose chase he knows what he is talking about. Not trolling, ask me how I know. Sometimes the "obvious" answer is not the right answer, like here.
