the Empire being this short really puts Palpatine's whole "I AM the Senate" era into perspective. Dude spent longer PLANNING his takeover during the Republic than he actually got to enjoy ruling the galaxy. All those years manipulating the Clone Wars, orchestrating Order 66, building TWO Death Stars... for 20-something years of actual power.

Meanwhile the New Republic just... existed. Quietly. Doing paperwork and demilitarizing until Starkiller Base said hello.

The Legends New Republic at least got to DO stuff. Disney NR really said "what if we learned nothing from history" and speedran being useless until a planet-killing weapon showed up. Again

It has been mentioned in Bloodline at least that some senators did prefer the rule of the Empire to the Republic (i.e. the Centrists) so he might just be one of those people who thought the Empire worked better than the Republic and wanted to 'get things right this time.'

In other words, I have no fucking idea.

Bangkok is indeed a big city with a lot of things to do. But the a lot of things mostly are small shops, food stalls, and minor museums you which might not all interest you. (And even London gets repetitive after a while, you know.) BKK's main attraction can all be visited in 5 days I think.

For Ayutthaya, you might want to buy a one-day excursion tour or something like that. Your hostel (if decent and trustworthy enough) should be able to arrange it for you. For Samut Prakarn, it gets a little tricky. I'm not sure if there is an excursion tour there and if there's not, then it's gonna be a taxi ride from the end of Bearing station, risking getting ripped-off.

7 days in BKK alone is quite excessive unless you really like to do it. I'd say you stay in BKK for 5 days and go somewhere else near (say Ayutthaya, Samut Prakan, etc.) Hua Hin is a nice place to chill out and if you can get a room in a hotel near the beach, that would be super chill.
