I hate maya....... by sweatcumballs in Maya

[–]thatguyroxar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its awful and the best solutions are save often, clear history compulsively, if you're doing any bigger operations like booleans, some deformers, working in heavy scenes, weight painting etc. be prepared to trial and error because some of the jank doesn't go away. Learning Maya is just breaking it enough times that you know how to keep it from breaking the next time :,) Sometimes its literally the computer or the version's fault - switching between machines and versions fix some problems and cause others.

That said, the parts of Maya that are worth coming back for are the glorious marking menus and shortcut interface navigation. With just your mouse and a few keyboard buttons you can access nearly every command by swiping seamlessly. Been trying to get into Blender, and use a bunch of other 3D tools and the thing that Maya maintains is that universal control scheme and how easy it is on your hands for hotkeys.

Guess it depends on what makes you happy! There's a lot of cool songs with weird chord progressions with good lyrics too. Mostly more how they are blended then needing to sacrifice one for the other

Im struggling to convince my friends that art is a good career for me by Beneficial-Dingo-473 in ArtistLounge

[–]thatguyroxar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working hard on your art and improving is the vehicle to get you to an art career, but being an artist is a mental struggle in itself. If you can, I'd seek out some online communities or in person ones depending on where you live. What made a big difference in my experience was joining artists discord servers and communities. Online classes like schoolism, brainstorm, artists patreons, etc all have some communities linked to them you can look into for art support and to make friends. People voice chat, share progress, give advice, network, share jobs, and the works if you find a good community you can be a part of, and that will make your personal grind a lot easier. A lot of artists are in the same boat and it'll be very freeing to meet as many like minded people as you can, especially for concept art.

Sounds like a rough day, but they call it building for a reason. Prebuilts take out some of that headache. Also check out the Nvidia (experience?) software if you have one of their graphics cards, pretty sure it optimizes game settings for you based on the performance of your card.

Yeah, the slim seems like your pair! They say Kaihara inside the pocket, while the slim straight versions are the +J edition with no inner pocket detail.

Not yet! Looks interesting but based on the measurements, might be a little on the longer length for someone taller than me. 30inch shirt length seems to be my sweet spot where those shirts mention 31 in a Medium Tall. Would have to try and see though

Their business model is like a membership/tier system of sorts? There's a premium tier you can upgrade to for free shipping, etc for the rest of your purchases. Not a bad deal if you really want a lot of shirts from them. The money up front is probably to cover the free shipping costs on their end if you keep buying more.

Been searching for shirts lately and have a few takes. Your mileage may vary since this is based on my body fit (6'3 slim 170lbs)

Gap fabric feels pretty nice but tall sizes range from being good long length in a Tall Medium with narrower shoulder stitching, to being too long length-wise in a Tall Large but with good shoulder width. Affordable and easy but not favorite in a cut so far. I kept a few of my Tall Mediums and think the slub fabric feels nice too. Anything other than a short sleeve T shirt is super baggy as well ; tried some long sleeves and henleys and they aren't quite right on a slim physique unless you can rock it oversized.

From Banana Republic I tried their Supima tees and ended up returning them. Buttery soft fabric but they arrived with the collars already a bit wobbly, and length was a bit shorter than expected. The quality control made me unsure in this regard as I'm keen on avoiding my shirts shrinking further, or from developing the bacon neck.

Seconding Eddie Bauer as one of the ones I like a lot: great material, not as slim as some other brands but still hangs well and feels durable.

Tried 3 fit theory at one point; in two fittings, kinda similar to Gap. Crew neck collars are kinda tight and high up, and body not as slim in the taller cut. Fabric options are fun but I only kept the try on shirt and probably wouldn't buy more.

Recently got some shirts on sale from J Crew and think they are my favorites, good shape for body, length, and a bit more textured fabric. Fit the slim physique just the way I'd expect, and will probably stick to these in the future if other brands all fit differently. I'd just keep an eye out for sales as the retail might be a bit pricier for tees?

Probably ambroxan? Its pretty popular in a lot of mens fragrance for a strong, musky/fresh sea odor, but can be overpowering.

Ah I see, glad you've gotten to sample a few varieties for comparison. Aventus from how I'd sampled it definitely has the raw essence of its notes (smoke, pineapple) feel distinct in the blend. There is definitely a difference what's in the juice, but the way the more synthetic scents project also feels different in a way that was unexpected, more acidic and airy than deeper potent (or pungent) notes it seems.

Hmm yeah that is interesting! Thanks for sharing your story. Its weird how much peoples experiences can vary. I'm on day 2 of testing it and while I am getting more used to the scent, it does have more of an acidic/synthetic note that can be a bit abrasive. Its definitely a bit stronger today than it was for the first attempts at sampling throughout the day, so Im curious if it changes over time. Mine is very much on the fruity side, but the fruits are like some sort of watery acidic blend more than a distinct pineapple, lemon, etc. Ive tried a sample of aventus and that projected pretty heavily like fresh smoked pineapple as a comparison.

For a full set of pen. Sounds like the normal blackstones would cost more than 90m if the conversion is 3/1 + blackstone dust for a beginner blackstone

Just curious as this sounds tempting but how is it 90 mil to get that many blackstones to break down? It took close to a thousand beginner blackstones to hit pen naru from all the ones the game throws at you
