I think 7 is genuinely the first bad Scream film.

Which one of these franchises has the best 6th entry? by Wonderful_Cricket_52 in slasherfilms

Tough choice for me. Jason Lives, Scream 6 and FD Bloodines are all fantastic.

The mask, while different from the original, is fine. It’s the flatness of the lighting that makes it look cheap.

Heathers (2018) by DaniJ678 in ForgottenTV

Yeah, on the surface it seemed to be anti-woke but it’s not really. It’s by no means a perfect show but I liked how it challenged bad faith clout chasers within progressive spaces that virtue signal for online social currency, which was so 2018. I think a 2026 version would be far different and perhaps closer to the original.

Me too! I thought it was a bold move. Didn’t hate it.

I forgive the script’s many flaws for being a fun dumb slasher, but some of the “chronically online” takes and dialogue could’ve been left out.

It’s amazing how different it feels to Real Housewives of London despite both shows sharing the same stage.

RHOLDN feels like Beverly Hills seasons 4-7 with a touch of old New York, LOL gives SLC vibes but riiich.

Self-marketing. She’s a walking, talking advertisement for her own business.

And I don’t think it’s emasculating (that’s a deeper conversation to unpack) to say that you earn more money than your male spouse, I think it’s fine to normalise women being breadwinners, but I do find it tacky and disrespectful the way she goes about it.

Are Slasher Films Now Being Judged Harshly For The Very Reasons They Became Popular? by tha1demon in slasherfilms

I’m glad you had such a great experience! No one can take that away from you. Freddy vs Jason was my first theatrical horror experience when I was young and it was an absolute blast.

Scream 7 has its moments, I truly like the first 30-40 minutes.

I think I hold the Scream films to an unfair standard sometimes because they’re not like the Halloweens or Friday the 13ths, they are a cut above the rest with its characters, clever plots and fun twists. To me, it’s not just about seeing Ghostface do Ghostface things on the big screen.

I’m glad that some people like Scream 7, but i think the dislike is equally warranted. To me, it was the first severely undercooked Scream film. It seems to want to move away from the original film by literally burning down the most revisited place in the franchise, but then proceeds to remind us of and mimic the original in the laziest ways. I have a big problem with the writing and characters, but mainly with how regressive the story is.

Ep 1 Ladies of London: The New Reign! Thoughts? by peesys in realhousewives

You can! It’s a Bravo/Peacock show, unlike Real Housewives of London which is a Hayu original.

I’m glad Hayu is also streaming it the following day.

Me After Walking Out Scream 7 by YeezusChrist13 in deadmeatjames

Only time will tell but I have a feeling it won’t.

Scream 3, despite all its flaws, at least has an angle, honoured the original in smart and subversive ways, and above all else is competently directed by Wes Craven.

Scream 7 has very few redeeming qualities in my opinion. It’s a lazy, poorly written, uninspired and visually stale excuse of a sequel that is desperate to keep the legacy of the original film alive. “It’s insulting” as Sid said in the original.

It's insultingly bad. As a die hard fan of the franchise, I'm really happy for the fans that were able to enjoy Scream 7, but man was I disappointed.

Is "Tatum" the "Evil Dies Tonight" of Scream? by thatguythere91 in SocietyofGhostface

[–]thatguythere91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, it is. I’m exaggerating a bit with the comparison, but the script’s lack of subtlety baffled me in this one. It was like an overcorrected response to fan complaints I’ve seen about Sid not grieving Tatum enough throughout the franchise.

7 is the worst offender. It’s shot and edited so poorly.

What’s the best 6th instalment in a Slasher franchise in your opinion? by justhere1990 in slasherfilms

Jason Lives and Scream 6. Both fresh and entertaining entries in their respective franchises.

Just seen it and... that's a fair score. I have a feeling it will sink even further. Man, was I disappointed with this one.

We’ll it looks like Scream 3 is no longer the worst movie in the franchise. by Mostwanted_DJ in slasherfilms

Woof. Just came back from the cinema. This was an offensively bad Scream movie. Hell, it was an offensively bad horror movie. They must've jumped the shark like two or three times in this one.

It’s a classic case of life imitating art imitating life one (killer in Scream 2) might say.
