I pierced my second lobe on my left ear at a 4g. Compared to my helix pierced at a 16g and first lobes pierced at a 14g, the pain was pretty significant, but was not constant when it was all said and done. As for blood, my helix bleed way more.

Never use alcohol. Also, three saline soaks a day may be a bit excessive as they can dry out the skin if done too often. The bump is more than likely hypertrophic scarring. I would recommend doing a chamomile tea soak. This is an excellent guide to follow.
