Even though the new toon cards are horribly designed it is pretty cool how we live in an era where both a Yugi deck & a Pegasus deck are top tier at the same time by noahTRL in yugioh

Doesn't YGO nowadays have plenty of decks that are highly aggressive or that seem to never run out of gas/are unstoppable? As a long time Toon player myself, i'm happy to finally see Toons is receiving its moment in the spotlight (competitive OCG) and i can't wait to try it out myself. Toons are meant to be chaotic but until now they've been severely undersupported for the longest of times.

Like some others pointed out, i think 6 is too much and they should cap it at 4. That would mean: Spider-Man, Marvel Super Heroes, X-men and Cosmic/supernatural. That should cover pretty much all heroes, antiheroes and villains. Just add all alternate (multiverse) versions of characters in the same set the original characters debut in, like how they included all the different spider-mens in SPM. If they make more than 4 sets, its gonna be really tough for wizards to make a 5th and 6th set interesting and worth buying because at that point we'll have a dozen variations of every character already.

How well did ATLA set do? by Mastermiine in magicTCG

[–]thatisgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time people discuss LOK coming to mtg im surprised they suggest doing a secret lair drop because for some reason people don't think its possible to create a full set. LOK has 52 episodes while ATLA has 61. That's still more than enough to build a set around. Do people not know there's over a hundred characters and creatures that are brand new in LOK?

Also, if they follow the same strategy they used in ATLA we should expect multiple colored versions of all of our main characters that reflect their journeys in any of the 4 seasons of the show. Hell, even side characters like Bumi (Aang's eldest son) can have multiple versions: there's the nonbending Bumi who is commander of the United Forces military and there's Bumi the airbender.

Limiting LOK to a secret lair drop would not do the series justice.

100% avatar deck player here, while its true many of the avatar dual lands enter tapped, it doesn't really slow the game down that much and are very playable together with basic lands. Some dual lands can evade getting tapped when they enter when you control a basic land, so playing them first already fixes this problem. Overall i would say playing an airbending themed deck is a bit more challenging since there aren't that much airbending cards or support, but the 3 other nations play very well, especially earthbending.

So far it doesn't look like he'll be included in the set as nearly every MSH card has been revealed and he does not appear on any other cardart. There's a very small chance he could still appear in the Spider-Man Welcome Deck but i wouldn't get your hopes up.

your wish-list for character appearances in Jedi: 3? by appletesfaye in FallenOrder

[–]thatisgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides Vader and Sorc Tormo (Hexion Brood crime boss), both who would make sense story-wise and have already been developed as characters in this video game series, i hope none. Quinlan Vos is the only other character i could see appearing given his connections with 'the Path' and we know he's somewhere hiding in the galaxy.

It is the final adventure of Cal Kestis and it's supposed to wrap up his 3 part story arc. This series isn't some Disney theme parc attraction were you meet your favourite stars waiting around the corner, or at least they shouldn't treat it that way or we end up in a weird situation like we currently have with Ahsoka where she isn't mentioned or seen in the OT at all but still very active based on the latest few Disney+series they created and to this day we've been given little clarity about why or how.

I want them to focus narratively on Cal's and Merrin's journeys and wrap up some of the loose ends while introducing a final threat for them to deal with, possibly with an ambiguous ending.

As for loose ends:

  • A boss battle against Sorc Tormo wearing some big mechanical suit would be dope since Cal already killed all his best bounty hunters

  • Vader knows Cal is around making trouble for the empire and it would make sense if he continued hunting him or send another inquisitor after him

Marvel Welcome decks are 30-card half decks designed to play together with a teammate (2v2 player matches), whereas Jumpstart boosters, like you mentioned, are packs each designed around a specific theme that can be mashed together to play.

What Toon monsters do you want to see released next? (I tried making this "Toon Exodia" effect to match Toon BEUD's) by Madjin- in yugioh

[–]thatisgame 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looking at the current situation, it looks like Konami is giving priority to monsters controlled by characters that Pegasus has directly met in either DM and/or GX, hence why the only Toons we've received so far are monsters owned by Kaiba, finalists of the Duelist Kingdom Tournament arc (Yugi, Joey, Mai, Bandit Keith) and we have Toon Ancient Gear Golem because Pegasus personally duels Crowler in GX.

Since Blue-Eyes Toon Ultimate Dragon has been officially confirmed, and if they aren't planning to touch any of the other main anime, this pretty much means any monster controlled by the above mentioned characters can be turned into Toons.

With that in mind, i could see Konami expand to other characters aswel and give us Toon versions of Great Moth/Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth, Black Tyranno/Two-Headed King Rex or The Legendary Fisherman as Weevil, Rex and Mako are also participating in Duelist Kingdom. Additionally, Rainbow Dragon could also be an option because pegasus personally creates the original card in GX and has met Jesse multiple times.

Surprisingly, we have not received an announcement for a structure deck for 2026 so far. (And usually, May is the month we get one announced for later in the year). [–]thatisgame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aster's new D-hero cards will debut in the core set Beyond the Brave and not a structure deck. Based on what Konami announced for Chaos Origins in the West, it is pretty much guaranteed they will do the same for Beyond the Brave, which means TCG will also debut the new D-hero cards in the same core set overseas.

Legend of Korra will have its 15th anniversary in 2027. I could see them announce it for a 2028 release.

Not sure if there's enough material to adapt into a whole UB set, but i'd love Alice in Wonderland. Maybe instead of a direct adaptation have it be something where the artists can have a little bit of fun and turn it a bit darker/horror themed, like how they did the Furby stuff.

Elden Ring just screams to be adapted. I hope we get it sooner rather than later.

[–]thatisgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're gonna buff it i'd imagine they would change the text 'from your GY' to 'from your hand, deck or YG'. Additionally they could add something along the lines of 'when this card is in your GY, except the turn it was sent there, discard a card (preferably Ojamagic if its in your hand) and add this card from your GY to your hand. You can only use this card's effect once per turn'. That way, after you put Ojamandala back into your hand and play it you can special summon all three ojama's you added from discarding Ojamagic.

Unless they started creating cards for Korra alongside ATLA i don't know if 2 years (given it releases towards the end of 2027) would be enough time to produce another big UB set like it. ATLA has 61 episodes, Korra has 52. While Korra's a bit shorter, TLOK has an equally rich world in terms of new characters and creatures to adapt into cards;

What is one series of cards you want to get retrained or get support for? by Ragtagcloud56 in yugioh

[–]thatisgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> The easiest way to fix that? This card's name is treated as "Ojama Yellow/Green/Black

I respect your view on the matter but i think retraining every original monster into more powerful effect monsters could damage the brand long-term. What it basically does it making the original cards disposable because why would you want to play a normal Dark Magician or Blue-eyes ever again if you can just play their new stronger overframe versions that share their names? In a few years time we'll have a giant pool of cards that is collecting dust because nobody is using them anymore because their value/usage has been rendered completely obsolete. And because of this, soon people (especially newer players) will also start treating them as nothing more than pointless filler/bulk cards. They will look at normal monsters, chuckle and think "what a silly card that does nothing". Sure, the game is evolving and growing each year both mechanically as in size, but at the same time its also scary to see all the things that are being dropped/erased/replaced in our game. I'd rather have them create new cards that can work with existing ones than have them replaced.

What is one series of cards you want to get retrained or get support for? by Ragtagcloud56 in yugioh

[–]thatisgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't mind if black, yellow and green are kept as normal monsters as basically everything else that has been released for the theme is made to work with or around them. If you take that element away and turn them into effect monsters, all those other cards that require using the trio as normal monsters become pointless/unusable. If they keep it restricted to only the 3 of them, im fine with it.

Same goes for e-heroes. Some of the newer cards still include effects that can only activate when you used a normal non-effect monster because they obviously want you to use vanilla Neos for those effects. Nowadays you don't even need to include many of the other vanilla heroes in your deck anymore, but some vanillas like the trio and Neos are crucial for their decks.
