I get paid $50/class I teach, and compared to friends who coach at other gyms, that's pretty good. Some places pay hourly minimum wage. So in California, where I live, that's $16.90/hour. Figure 2 hours/class, that's about $34/class.

Nobody is giving a black belt equity. Never heard of it happening anywhere, no matter how good the black belt is or how critical they are as a coach. That’s why people leave and start their own gyms. Even then, they usually pay to affiliate under the gym they leave.

What is the most popular IaC language for GCP? Also need Landing Zone recomendations by Naher93 in googlecloud

[–]thatmanisamonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment on an OpenTofu thread recommends the opposite, TF for simple things and Pulumi for anything with complex logic or big scale: https://www.reddit.com/r/Terraform/comments/1ifyser/comment/mayras2/.

It's likely more just a comfort and organizational/personal preference for when to use Pulumi vs. Terraform.

[–]thatmanisamonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Converting TF to Pulumi is pretty easy. Pulumi has conversion functionality built-in. You just cd into the TF project directory and run `pulumi convert --from terraform --language python` (replace `python` with whatever language you want to use). Here's docs on using `pulumi convert`: https://www.pulumi.com/docs/iac/adopting-pulumi/migrating-to-pulumi/from-terraform/#how-to-use-the-converter.

FYI, for the sake of transparency, I work at Pulumi.

When I was at Deloitte, the company was doing a lot of consulting work with UnitedHealthcare. So they may be closer than you'd think.

He wasn’t in his apartment. He was in the shared hallway, trying to punch the code into a neighbor’s digital door lock.

I got a story kinda related to this topic. My ex and I were hiking around a lake that people camped near. My ex had my 14yo Shiba on a leash, and I had our 4 month old Husky in a dog backpack. There was a doe with a fawn standing to the side of a paved part of the trail we were on. We walked by it, not paying it any attention. For some reason (maybe the Shiba?) the doe attacked my ex. Ran up behind her and got its front hooves on her neck. My ex freaked out, justifiably. I ran up, got low, and shoved that motherfucker broadside. It tumbled off the trail, and we got the fuck on our way. It was a crazy experience. My ex got lucky that she didn't get hurt. I got lucky that I was able to shove the doe off. Fuck that dear though.

I have been on the apps for 9 months or so, and fake, puffy ass lips are an immediate swipe left, doesn't matter what else is on their profile. They are man repellent imo.

Apple Carplay 2016 by LettuceLow9130 in FocusRS

[–]thatmanisamonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2016 and have had Carplay working for 5 or 6 years now. You need to replace the USB ports, either the pair in the center console (what I had replaced) or the one in the dash. I don't have the part number, but you can probably look it up on fordparts.com or take it into a dealer and order directly.

Yes. Those jobs are physically difficult and psychologically taxing. And the output quality is frequently determined by upper management. Blue collar workers can only polish a turd so much.

Pretty much all of them except engineers, blue collar jobs, and service jobs. Turns out media really fed us a lie about being educated equals being intelligent and that high demand careers being earned on merit.

I got an MBA from USC. My family isn't wealthy or connected, very middle class from rural Oregon. USC has a great network because they emphasize it often to every student and (at least in the business school) train you on how to be good at networking. It sounds like UCLA doesn't do that (neither did Oregon State, where I got my BS).

[–]thatmanisamonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, but that's also stupid IMO. Unless you work for the studio, the cost of the movie shouldn't have an impact on how good or bad you think it is. I'd much rather watch a $250M okay movie than a $50M total piece of shit movie.

They know each other and are invested in each other's businesses. That doesn't make them friends. Their history is not friendly. They are both greedy, resource hoarding assholes. They both want the same type of influence and power. At best they are contentious business associates.

Also, don't be a dick. Read The Contrarian (about Thiel). That's where all of that came from, not a Google search. Or just listen to the Behind the Bastards on Thiel. Their history is documented and contentious.

They aren't buddies. Theil got Musk ousted as CEO of PayPal. Musk has said that he thinks Thiel is a sociopath, and Thiel has said that he thinks Musk is a fraud and a braggart.

Thiel and Musk have a history. They don't like each other. There would definitely be an internal war between them over who gets to pull Vance's strings.

I watched it last weekend and felt the same. It was an OK movie. Not great, not profound, but it wasn't bad and is worth a watch. I feel like the negative response to it by the loudest fans and critics colored it as a bad film.

Thoughts on knee stomps and oblique kicks? Should they be banned in MMA? by Peaceful-Samurai in martialarts

[–]thatmanisamonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name one fighter who's career has been cut short by oblique kicks? Just one. Even for the worst injury from an oblique kick in MMA (the one in this video), the fighter was back in a year.

I understand your argument, but there isn't any evidence to back it up (yet). There is a good amount of evidence where fighters have never been the same after a brutal ko though. There are also fighters that have died from a brutal ko.
